Well in my case, I was never a fan until I needed to buy a pistol and my uncle was selling a Glock 23 very cheap. I got used to shooting a Glock and started to get consistent with it. The prices for used ones make them very affordable.I ended up flipping the 23 that for a Gen 4 17 and love it.
What converted me was the fact I can do most all my own gunsmithing on it. The more I tinkered with it, my appreciation for its design grew. It's elegant in its simplicity.
That and I could get parts very easily, magazines, accessories etc.
I have smaller hands so the slightly thinner Gen 4 frame works well for me compared to previous generations.
The Glock being so easy to tinker with inspired me to take on building an AR15.
I'd rather have a HK P30- just fits my hand perfectly- but I'm happy with the Glock and will probably pick up a Gen 4 19 at some point.
I picked up your novel in iBooks. If it's tweaking the left that much, you did something right. :D
