Missed out on a TALO GP100 and have a TALO 686 in the wings. But...

Recently missed out on a TALO GP100 and have a TALO 686 waiting on the sidelines, but am thinking instead of putting that money towards ammo. The GP is gone, and the 686 is sweet, but having just recently bought a 4" Python, am kind of thinking of spending the extra money on ammo. What say you on that decision? BTW, that would buy a pretty good chunk of ammo.

Shall we start with the DA trigger that's about as smooth as a palsy victim performing brain surgery with a pipe wrench? Moving right along, we can add that the ergonomics are pretty close to a brick **** house too.

The Rugers are good guns, I prefer the S&W 686 as a personal preference thing, I like the feeling and shooting the 686 better than the GP or SP but its not a dramatic difference. I could be happy with a Ruger. There are many who like the Rugers better, its kinds of like the Pepsi vs Coke thing

My only experience with revolvers are the snub nose variety. I've owned both LCR and smith 642, as far as trigger goes I'd tale the LCR any day.

Interesting looking 686. I would like it better with a 4" tube, though.

Unfluted cylinder is cool, but the safety lock hole is no buono. And yes, the grip is hideous. Maybe it works better than it looks?

I'd say take the money and get some sweet leathers for the Python. Or find another vintage Colt.

Gotta tell you... Given the choice between your Python and the TALO, the Python wins in the looks department by a country mile.

I put a spring kit in my GP100 and it made a pretty good difference. I grew up on Rugers, so their trigger doesn't bother me. I will say that S&W's are alot better trigger than the Ruger's, with the exception of the snubby Smith's. The LCR has a much better trigger than any of the snubby S&W's I've ever shot.

Huge fan of the unfluted cyclinder, as well as the full lug. I agree, those grips gotta go.

I'd be quite content with the Python for a looong time. Buy ammo and shoot that beauty! (and why aren't you reloading??? The .38/.357 is one of the most obvious and easy choices to reload!)
