Sorry. Thought this was one of those general MSM bias threads. (Although I happen to believe in general MSM bias, too, just not that this particular incident was anything more than somebody who caught a fortunate snaphsot in time and is looking to further his career with it)

Doctoring images, or otherwise conveying a false narrative, is a time-honored tradition with the leftist press.

Here are a couple of shots from Reuters that gained notoriety at the time. One is of an Israeli F16 dropping what was reported to be three bombs, which were actually flares, and was actually one flare Photo-chopped multiple times. The other is of smoke billowing all over Beirut, but most of the smoke was added after the fact:

Here is more of a "narrative" lie, where women in Beirut are depicted lamenting over the loss of their homes. But as it turns out, the photos are of the same woman taken two weeks apart, in two different locations:
