Trent Lott Loves "Law of the Sea Treaty" Now That He's Lobbying For It

That there lobbying business must pay REALLY well, to change a man's mind on this traitorous legislation.
Quote:
The treaty would grant the United Nations unprecedented taxing authority over American companies by transferring permitting and royalty payments currently made to the U.S. government for offshore drilling to the International Seabed Authority, a U.N.-created agency that would have the power to redistribute billions of dollars to other countries.

It would also commit the United States to accept international arbitration of maritime disputes.

For three decades, the United States has declined to sign on.

Another UN attempt to run this nation. Let them find their own money, army, navy, authority, and quit trying to get ours for free. Sounds like Obama.

Go run some other nation.

Therein lies the secret to politicians doing whatever they want. The general population couldn't care less. The elected ones that don't represent us anymore let it fly through after being paid "consulting" fees that meet their approval. Once morals and ethics are gone, it's all downhill.

Do you know who his partners are?

I'm betting not, or you'd have probably swallowed that "true colors" comment.

Lott aims to 'co-opt' critics of his lobbying racket
Quote:
A 35-year veteran of Congress, former Senate majority leader, and now partner at K Street's most storied lobbying firm, Trent Lott knows the system. And the system has rewarded him richly -- as when Patton Boggs recently wrote a multimillion-dollar check to buy his firm, the Breaux-Lott Leadership Group.

So the last thing Lott needs is a bunch of unwashed, Tea-Partying right-wingers coming to Washington on a wave of anti-establishment, free-market populism, and messing up the good thing he has going.

"We don't need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples," Lott told the Washington Post, referring to the conservative South Carolina senator who has been a gadfly for party leadership and a champion for upstart conservative candidates. "As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them."

But Lott is no longer in the Republican leadership -- he resigned from the Senate in December 2007, mid-term, just before a law kicked in that would have required him to wait two years before lobbying the Senate. So who is he talking about when he says "we need to co-opt them"?

"We" means the K Street wing of the Republican Party.

Yep, he's pretty much the only Republican in that whole outfit.

But, you have to remember, Lott was a Democrat on Big Jim Eastland's staff, when Eastland decided to have Lott run for Congress as a Republican.

In Washington, the labels only matter to the people who don't know better.
