im not supprised. like i said the smith trigger feels great for a single stage. actually the spikes would feel even better if it didnt feel like it had rocks in it.

so far its looking like the smith has a better trigger and is more accurate currently.

I'll grant that more information is needed on what causes these Colts to blow up. However, I do agree that Colt is neither the best or the final words on AR15/M16. They make their guns to mil-spec, and that's it. Mil-spec is just that: mil-spec. It ain't all that special, otherwise people wouldn't bother to shell out more moolah for Wilson Combat, Baer, Novesky or other manufacturers du jour.

The accuracy evaluation was done on a bench using sandbags under the handguard and buttstock.

You're welcome. Looks like both triggers are improving with use. I didn't go back and calculate how many rounds he has through them. Not that many yet.

Instead of trying to count rounds as they are shot, we have assigned an ammo can to each rifle. Each rifle is only shot with ammo from its ammo can. Equal amounts of like ammo goes into both cans. We keep track of what gets put into the ammo can and rounds fired count = what was put into ammo can - what remains.

Most triggers get lighter with use. At Boy Scout camp we can only use rifles with trigger pulls over 3 pounds. We check pull daily and see pull weight go down steadily until we have to pull a rifle off of the line for a new trigger.

No Colts in the stable. I'm just wondering how the S&W M&P Sport will fare. I'm thinking about buying one for my son (before the first week of November).

I have a Bushmaster that was purchased in 2003.

Finally got in some Hornady 75 grain Match BTHP and expect some Black Hills 77gr Match BTHP tomorrow. Plus, we will do a little celebratory shooting tonite, so the barrels will be broken in before we see how the heavier loads shoot.

Interesting. The SW didn't like the Black Hills ammo at all.
