Russian ammo spam can opener
Is there anyplace that sells these or is Ebay about it...got a spam can of 5.45 today first spam can ive bought of course no opener...Luckily I still have a couple hundred already opened rounds around from when i bought the gun. Should I just break down and get one for $11-12 on ebay or what? or is there a easy way to open them other than that...and yes I did a search and came up with little to nothing.
Oh and yes I knew id need a opener i just wondered whats the best deal on one Ebay or does someplace actually sell them?? OR is there a easy way without the opener?

Tin snips (sheet metal shears) will open up the spam can better than anything else. Sites on-line like Copes Dist and AIM Suprlus often sell the can openers for about $5.

I wondered if tin snips would work well I was not sure of the thickness of the lid and or if I could get the right angle to use them right. looks like the surplus 1080 rounds are winding down maybe??(the corrosive stuff thats cheap) I could only find it at a few places...many out of stock..I think shipped I paid around $160 which wasnt bad though. Wish id been able to afford MORE

Got a can of 9mm TulAmmo like that the other day. but it came with the can opener in the carton. After cutting about 1/4 around one end I folded the lid back enough to get one
box (50) at a time out.
Ended up cutting myself on the dumb thing! Got out my 18 boxes of ammo, and trashed the can ASAP!
Gander Mt had 900 rounds on sale for 200 bucks after $25 rebate.

I've opened a few spam cans of ammo before with the correct tool and never had an issue with it, never got cut or anything. I guess thats because I wasn't in a rush and took my time ;-) At one time I think sportsmansguide sold them, I know copes did or does sell them. You can also use a chisel on the inner part of the tin to get it started so you can use tin snips.

Go to Lowe's or HD, and get a piece of 3/8" round steel stock, and cut it to 10" or so.
Cut a slot in the end, about 1-1/2" deep.
Use a grinder and taper the end, slightly.
Vise-Grips to hold the non-slotted end, and you have a can opener.
After opening, (using gloves), slide the 'stripped end' off of the opener and toss the strip, and store the opener for future use.
About $3.00 and 1/2 hour of your time.
Or, get a piece of square tubing, cut a slot in one end, drill a hole in the other end (for a screwdriver, for turning), then use that as your spam can opener.
