I guess his faith wasn't strong enough. Mine is non-existent so I stay away from snakes.

Last I heard researchers discovered that older manuscripts of the new testament did not have the serpent handling verses and were deemed add ons by some later person or persons. I always use this example to illustrate that people take the words too far and at times to serve their own purpose.

A "serpent-handling" West Virginia pastor died after his rattlesnake bit him during a church ritual, just as the man had apparently watched a snake kill his father years before.
Not much of a learning curve there .......

It happens. There have always been those individuals with the nerve to try what others consider extreme. Sometimes they fly experimental aircraft/ultralights. Sometimes they base jump. Sometimes they ... handle snakes.

Seems like a self correcting problem.

Guess he missed that part of Genesis where we learn that snakes are not our friend. No, I'm not talking about Phil Collins and his band of yore.

Handling poisonous snakes seems an awful lot like you are testing God.

Sent via bath salt induced stupor... Mmm, what is this tasty treat? Kinda chewy..

I try not to complain when a baby cries, a dog barks, or when a rattlesnake bites some moron who is teasing it.

Seems like Russian roulette for people who can't afford "Post-Obama" ammo prices...

That is crazy when Christians do that. Jesus told the Apostles they would handle poisonous snakes without harm, which was fulfilled when Paul was bitten in Acts 28. Context is everything.

If you handle snakes 12 hours per day, that's 2.8 snakes per minute. I would say you're not telling the whole story. I doubt you handle them with your hands.

Try cleaning cages and water bowls all day and you have to.
Thene there is feeding dyas 3x per week. the removing the uneaten chicks and mice.

Also pairing up mates and then moving gravid feamles to a nest box. Then hatcthling time Ohhh mannn! They all go in deli cups and get fed watered and moved around for pictures.

I would say 2000 per day is conservative.

Matthew 4:5-7, " Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[b]

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test."

Apparently, when handling snakes, he focused on one part and not this as well.
