A tad paranoid?
IO heard a cat say once when you holster or un holster a 1911 you should grip it so you don't depress the grip safety, lessing the chance of shooting your self. To me that seems paranoid, you keep your finger off teh trigger you won't shoot your self

Its hard to grab it properly without depressing the grip safety. To me, you need a firm grip on your handgun while drawing it.

Yup sounds paranoid to me, when I holster or unholster I want a strong grip, and the best safety is your brain

Not sure how you'd do that and really have a grip that let you control the gun.

I like this simple, 3-step process:
1) Use a firm grip for better control of the pistol.
2) Keep finger off trigger.
3) Point barrel somewhere other than "at self."
