In many ways, yes. Everybody has their preferences, but HK is more consistent in quality and construction than many of the other manufacturers. There's always room for improvement. The DA/SA (especially the DA) could be better.

owning glocks 17,20,21,29 xdm compact .45 xd full size .45 Px4 storm 9mm rugers p94,p95 and as of last week my newest addition the HK 357 SIG. I immediately felt the superiority the first time I picked it up. It just gives you this feeling that I can't explain. I went to the range yesterday and did not lube her up or anything and had 0 failures and the accuracy was better than every handgun that I ever shot. I'm truly impressed with HK and will probably never buy another brand again, it just feel great in my hands it shoots and ejects perfectly. Got her in a trade for my DE 50ae ( plus cash of course) and don't regret it for one second.

You wrote a bunch of things that most do these days. Don't get me wrong, I loved my USP45 but not to the point that I couldn't see anything wrong with it. The polymer scratched much easier than Glock back then. Don't know about the current guns as I could care less about a gun that is 2nd best when it comes to being able to customize it to my specific needs. I prefer a gun that is widely available. A gun that I can get parts for anywhere to customize or even rebuild myself. HK doesn't build an indestructible gun. No one does. Seems some HK users like saying they have the best though. I guess any gun would seem that way spending most it's time in a safe. People that use guns for a living generally shy away from HK. At least all the ones I know do.

So is there anything wrong with them? No. Are they the best though? Far from it IMO.

Wait a minute. They have gone up that much in the last decade or so? No way they should cost more than a Glock.

I've owned and fired many pistols over my years of ownership.
Glocks
Berettas
FNP tactical
FNX
1911's
yadda yadda
When I would try a new one out and sell it, I'd always go back to Glock. Recently, I was in a LGS and came across a USP 9mm. When I placed the gun in my hand it seemed like they were made for each other. I have a hard time finding anything that fits. I'm 6'8'', 250lbs, and have a pimp hand that is almost 10'' across. I haven't shot the weapon yet, but in terms of the grip fitting my hand...wow. I can't wait to fire it and compare to my Glock. I'm not saying they're better, but it does feel more solid. I still plan on owing a Glock and probably will always have one. I do enjoy my USP though.

Just about all major manufacturers in the last 15+ years, except S&W, have always cost more than glock...even used.

It'd be nice if they all cost the same as the M&P's.

"Best" is defendant upon the shooter. I shoot my P228 better than my hk. My hk carries better. My glock is the most durable and easy to work on. I love all of them

Do the SEALS count? Is that a question for me as you have it as something I wrote when I didn't..

What is better? Glocks. Easy question. Yes I've owned both. Frankly HK is over hyped.

Bought a NIB P30 40 LEM about a month ago.
Have been so entirely impressed with the firearm I picked up
a NIB P2000 357 LEM.

Whether or not they are the best handguns in the world is debatable.
But they certainly belong on a very short list of the best - IMHO.

Their quality is real and demonstrable.

Not to bash glock because I own and like them very much and never had problems with mine. But have you taken apart a glock and, say, an hk or a sig and compared the quality of the parts? There's just something to holding/shooting an hk that I don't get when holding/shooting a glock.

I like that fact that I can take one pin punch (no hammer needed) and detail strip my Glock in a very short time. Frankly I like HK and Sig. I don't like HK being treating the civilian market as an afterthought that isn't worthy of the efforts that others make towards it. Yes I'm law enforcement but I like to think how they effect others that aren't. Out of the three Glock feels better in my hand and I just trust more. From what I'm seeing prices have gone insane on Sig and HK also.

Are HKs really superior?

Only in their own minds...

Quote:
HK. Because you suck. And we hate you.

An open letter to the gun community from HK’s marketing department: In a world of compromises, some people put the bullets in the magazine backwards…But it doesn’t matter, because our gun is on the cover of the Rainbow Six video games. Look how cool that SEAL coming out of the water looks… If you buy a $2,000 SOCOM, you will be that cool of an operator too. And chicks will dig you.

At HK, we stuck a piston on an AR15, just like a bunch of other companies have done, dating back to about 1969. However ours is better, because we refuse to sell it to civilians. Because you suck, and we hate you.

Our XM8 is the greatest rifle ever developed. It may melt, and it doesn’t fit any accessories known to man, but that is your fault. If you were a real operator, you would love it. Once again, look at Rainbow Six, that G36 sure is cool isn’t it? Yeah, you know you want one.

And by the way, check out our new HK45. We decided that humans don’t need to release the magazine with their thumbs. If you were a really manly teutonic operator, you would be able to reach the controls. Plus we’ve fired 100,000,000 rounds through one with zero malfunctions, and that was while it was buried in a lake of molten lava, on the moon. If you don’t believe us, it is because you aren’t a real operator.

By the way, our cheap, mass-produced, stamped sheet metal guns like the G3 and MP5 are the bestest things ever, and totally worth asinine scalpers prices, but note that cheap, mass-produced, stamped sheet metal guns from other countries are commie garbage. Not that it matters, because you’re civilians, so we won’t sell them to you anyway. Because you suck, and we hate you, but we know you’ll be back. We can beat you down like a trailer park wife, but you’ll come back, you always do.

Buy our stuff.
Sincerely
HK Marketing DepartmentHK. Because you suck. And we hate you.

I know you didn't write the above letter.

But I like the mag release. I wish glock would do the same. I still use my thumbs to eject mags. Walther saw the light and copied the design. Maybe there is hope...
