Hello from Utah
Hey Everyone! I'll admit it, I'm new to the shooting world. So new in fact, that I don't even have a gun yet. I still haven't decided on what I want yet! I am reserving a spot a class for my CCP within the next few weeks. That's why I joined GT so I can learn about the different options out there and the best way to carry. I have gone shooting with friends and on Scout functions but that was mostly shotguns vs. clay :-). That was fun and all, but I am all about self defense for me and my wife. I live in a relatively safe area, but I-15 runs right through town, right behind my apartment actually, and we get a lot of gang bangers and drug runners from California and Mexico making their way to Salt Lake and Canada. I also have a career goal of going into Law Enforcement. I hope to be able to share my two cents every one now and then and also ask for advice from people who have been involved in this since before I was born. So, there's my hello! I look forward to meeting some of he great people here on Glock Talk.

Ah yes, the real reason Utah is known as The Crossroads of the West. PM me. I will tell you the best guy to take your CCW class from.

I met a cop today that told me his dept was switching to .45 from .40 and that all the officers had to have their weapons by the 1st if next year. I asked him why the change and he said that the recoil is less with the .45 from the .40. Is this true? As I said, I'm new to the pistol scene and thought that with a bigger cartridge (.45), the shooter would feel more recoil and experience higher muzzle flip. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Being an American. My greatest blessing.

 Welcome from Ohio!
I'm new to guns too, having just bought my first in April - a Glock 23 gen3. It's a lot of fun. Got a 22 pistol shortly after, and so it goes... You'll find a lot of great advice here.
