I like the feel and look of the new Sig 9mm. Not as sleek as the Kimber Solo but very nice for a small pistol with a hammer.

I really want to swap my 238 for a 938, but not sure when or if I'll have the funds to do that this year. Would LOVE to get rid of an expensive caliber for a cheap one!

Update: Range Report.

I went with my dad this morning and fired only 100 rounds of Winchester 115 grains from Walmart. I also brought my Glock 39 45 GAP using a speer lawman 200 grains and shot 50 rounds.

First impression:

We all know recoil is subjective, but I shot 357 Ruger LCR before and it is by far less than that. I would put the recoil of the Sig comparable to my 38 special on my sold LCR. So far it shot 2-3 inches high, not left or right, just high. The tip of the front sight is at the bottom of the bullseye @7 yards. My front sight has a underscore 6 markings. Not sure what it meant.

Trigger comparison:

Good thing I brought my Glock 39 stock 5.5 ibs trigger with 25 cents trigger job and I compared the two. My Glock trigger has a lighter tigger pull and more accurate to shoot. Definitely the Sig has an 8 Ibs trigger pull! About twice as much to the Colt New Agent 1911.
Also, the Sig trigger surface is serrated and I do hate that after 100 rounds. I cannot wait for a smooth surface trigger on the Sig or a lighter trigger pull option at Sig .
I hope the 8 Ibs trigger pull on the Sig gets lighter after shooting hundreds of rounds through it. It just kills my finger badly...

Malfunction:

3 FTE in 100 rounds. The casing is still in the chamber while the next round is pinned down underneath the spent casing butt.
I cannot remember which magazine I was using during the malfunction. I had a 6 rounds and an extended 7 rounds Sig mags with me. I did clean the Sig the night before we went to break it in. I do remember that the feed ramp is so shiny as if Sig did polish it for better feeding.

My dad is not really that good at shooting, and he handed me the gun while shooting at the target. He said the gun had malfunction. So I checked it and there it goes! During recoil, his right thumb accidentally flipped up the thumb safety and the gun wont fire.

Minor problem:

After 80 rounds the screws on the Grip got loose, 4 of them !
I hand tighten them and finshed off the 20 rounds that were left. I was expecting to go for 200 rounds break in , but I would not want those screws to fall off! I had enough for that day since my finger hurts.

I just bought an allen wrench and put some tight lock (blue) on the loose screws when I got home. The Sig and the Glock are so easy to disassemble and clean speacially cleaning it with Frog Lube. I did clean the Sig with frog Lube befor the break in...

Conclusion:

Still early to tell if it is reliable or not. Remember I only shot 115 grains. I was really planning to get a 147 grains but Wally world doesnt have one... Next time I will try that heavy ones....

The P938 is A rating overall since it is easy to shoot. I give the trigger pull C bec. It is not comfortable to shoot after 100 rounds and top it of with serrated type....

Let me know if there is a way to make the Sig trigger pull lighter without voiding the warranty .

You could take the trigger out and hit it with some fine grit sandpaper to smooth the serrations down a bit. I lightly polished the internals of my 238 and replaced the trigger with a steel one, helped it a good bit, maybe you could do that?

This is my first 1911 style handgun and I am not familiar yet with removing parts except disassembling it for cleaning.
I will look online and see how to remove the serrations on the trigger. The Kahr CW9 that i rented a few days ago beat the P938 when it comes to softer trigger. I just do not like the Kahr long pull and reset.

If the 938 is like the 238, the trigger is plastic and would be really easy to smooth down.

There are some good videos on youtube on dis and reassembly of the 238, so I'm assuming the 938 is either identical or very similar.

Congrats on the new gun. But, 3 failures in the first 100 rounds with FMJ ammo? Unacceptable in my book. Hopefully Sig will do something about it on their dime.

The spring on both magazines are very tight and I still have to try a 147 grains to R/O slide not cycling enough with the 115 grains. Remember it was a failure to eject. It could also be the new external extractor... Hopefully not...

Yes, it is plastic. I could easily file it down.
