Question on two guns

This is not intended to be a cal war so please don't make it one.

In searching thru the internet and talking with people and friends I have found that the glock 23 and the glock 30 are two of the most preferred carry glocks. Now the glock 19 seems to be right up there but I am just interested in the 23 and 30 opinions and thoughts on the two .

SO my question is for those of that carry a glock 30 or 23 what was the deciding factor in your choice?

Glock 30, for a .45, it shoots real sweet, felt recoil is like soft butter, at least to me. Don't carry it now, I went with the .40 caliber Glocks: 22, 23, 27.

Reason: Local cops carry them and a couple of them, especially one, beat me into submission to carry what they do...

Kind of like on the internet forums - People continually flip someone off who they know is obligated to not break the rules in response. Yeah, usually that type of stupidity eventually yields the rewards that are earned.

And then there are those trying so hard to be offended that they're imagining things that haven't even been said in a thread.

If you have fairly small hands, Glocks in general will feel thick, and in that case the G30 will feel even more cumbersome, as it has a slightly larger and thicker frame.

If you dont have a problem with the thicker frame, the shorter grip length of the G30 will help with concealed carry.

I like the G30 better of the two. That said you should probably try to shoot the G30 the G23 and the G19 and whichever you shoot best would probably be the best choice.

I own a 17 and 23.. I love glocks as far as function and quality but they just never fit my hand correctly. The answer for me was the xdm.

No experience with G23.
I carry G30.
I shot G30 better than G19.

Started carring the G23 back in the 90s due to the Snow report. same size as the 19 and easy to pack. Most PDs carry .40 cals. Have changed over the years and now select carry for the activities of the day and time of the year.

If the standard 30 is to thick try the sf fits like a glove. I like the 27 but I'm kind of bias toward .45 as its my favorite cal.

G30 does feel like a brick to me. Bought the G36 and carry it most often for that 45 punch, and "flat' carry. Also tote the G23, and appreciate the fairly large caliber and amount of rounds in the mag. Good Luck.

I have both. I have modded the 30 so it fits ME. I have started carrying the 30 more.

It's hard to argue with 14 rounds of .40

Have both, currently carry the G30 for no other reason than I shoot it better.

Wish I could shoot the G23 as well, because it is a bit thinner. It's not the recoil, but that particular frame feels really weird in my hand (same issue with the G19). Perhaps some grip alterations would help me?

In summary, try shooting both and see which one works better for you, caliber be darned.

I have both. I find that the G30 is slightly shorter in the grip length, meaning slightly less grip sticking out when holstered.

The G30 grip is obviously more of a handful to hold, but I find that the curve on the back of the grip more closely follows the curve of my palm under my thumb when gripping the pistol.

I've shot both my G23 and G30 in matches. I've found that every time I draw my G30 my hand is consistently up high under the beavertail and in the same spot; no shifting my grip and no having to settle with a bad draw.

I love the G23. It is a near (i said near) perfect carry option. The 23 shoots great and is a fantastic combination of concealability, capacity and firepower.

The reliability is unreal......I have owned my 23 for ten years and I have shot thousands of rounds with it. I have never experienced a malfunction, or at least not in recent memory, and certainly never any catastrophic failures at all. It is accurate, feeds anything I have run through it, it's lightweight and just downright tough. It's a Glock......what more needs to be said.

It was my first Glock and I will never part with it. The best part.....I didn't even buy it for myself. My wife presented it to me as a gift.

When I carry one of my Glocks, it could be either my G23 or my G30. I have owned and practiced with both for a long time.

After doing some IDPA, I noticed I am slightly more accurate with the G30.
