So I traded off my Enhanced ACR, it was not for me. Here's my newest......

I know there is lots of love out there for the Bushmaster/Magpul ACR. I here ya, I am a major Magpul fan. I have to say that I really love the design. I loved the way I could break it down and remove the barrel in seconds. But that being said. It was heavy, the charging handle was sloppy, the charging handle was gouging the upper, there was a small opening between the bolt carrier and the receiver that would allow FO (Foreign Objects) to enter the rifles vitals. But the biggest reason I traded it was I have a FHN SCAR that is doesnt hold a candle to IMHO.

Anyway here is what I got. $200.00 and a Springfield Armorey M1A SOCOM II. I can't wait to shoot this thing

That rifle is completely bad ***. If you haven't shot it yet, or any other .308, you'll be surprised at the power compared to a .223.

Nice pickup, even if that cluster rail is heavy as sin.

Colt, I know how you are on tweaking weapons, so check out the VLTOR stock system for it. Having shot both a standard SOCOM II and a SOCOM with the VLTOR stock replacement, the difference in controllability and felt recoil is pretty significant.

I was just looking at them yesterday. I like it alot. The one thing I noticed was the cheek weld on the factory stock, or lack there of with a optic on the rail of the SOCOM. Does the Vltor correct this. $499.99 is a pretty good upgrade.

It looks like Vltor uses a high mounted mod-stock. It should give a much nicer cheek weld than the factory stock.

Nice rig. As others have mentioned, the cluster rail makes it REAL front heavy / unwieldy (to me, at least). Different strokes .

I wound up with the SOCOM 16, and bought a Freds surplus walnut stock. After refinishing, its a thing of beauty, and pretty unusual, as SA only does black synthetic stocks for the SOCOMs.

Colt, I like it. I have a full size loaded model.

That looks way, way, way heavy. Mine is, and i work out quite a bit, still not the most manageable rifle.

I would shed the cluster rail personally, in favor of a rail section bolted into the stock somehow.
