Ruger 1911

So I went to my gun shop to see if they had the M&P9C in stock as I've been wanting one. They didn't have any but they did have some nice 1911s that caught my eye including the Ruger SR1911. It's a lot of gun for the price IMO and is built pretty well. I put 200 dollars down on one and should be picking it up in a few weeks. My gun store had it priced at $695 which from the research I gathered sounds about right. If anyone has this particular 1911 let me know how you like it.

Very good gun for the money & makes a great base gun to build off.

Love mine. I agree it's awesome for the price range. They have been easy to find around here since day one.

I have one. Been shooting it for about a year in Wild Bunch matches. Only mod to it was the ambi safety. I am left handed. Another guy was running one and having problems. It was miss feeding. He got rid of the MecGar magazines and problem fixed.

Went to Sportsman's Warehouse today looking at 45s. The guy at the gun counter pointed me toward the Ruger 1911 but I've been eye balling a Sig. After reading a little about them I think I need to go back and check out the Ruger.

very impressive sir. Got a question. How do you set your overtravel screw. No matter how much I turn it feels the same. Btw this is on my STI ranger II with wilson combat flat trigger.

Screw it in until your trigger doesn't work anymore, then back it off a 3/4 to a turn. Once you know where you adjustment is, remove the screw, apply a tiny bit of blue loctite, then re-adjust.

Nope. I should've worded it differently. What I meant to say is the screw is very loosely fit. I would have no choice but to loctite it in place.

I tried to buy a ruger 1911 today, but they were sold out!! The gun store around here is having ruger reps at it this weekend. They brought 30 of them and were sold out within an hour.

Liked mine so much now I have two, bought four days apart from two different LGS. Gotta have one for each hand (what I told my wife). I am going to keep one NIB since I have another one to shoot.

Also make sure that the sear fully clears the half cock notch on the hammer. Hold the trigger fully rearward while slowly thumbing down the hammer. If you feel a slight bump on the way down, that is the half cock notch hitting the sear. Adjust the trigger stop screw until you can no longer feel it bump the half cock notch. The hammer should fall totally free down to the firing pin to avoid light primer strikes.

The rugers look nice, but I wish they made them full stainless. I don't like the blued parts on a stainless gun. A full blued or parkerized version would be nice too.

Put one of these on layaway today. Already have some plans for it when I pick it up. My Delta is at the gun shop for ambi-safety, night sights and trigger job right now. I'll probably have the same stuff done to the Ruger when I get it. I may have the grip safety and slide lock changed out for stainless but not sure yet.

Can't believe Alaska is getting something before anywhere in the lower 48. The gun counter manager at the local Sportsman's Warehouse was telling me today that every tore in the country got 3 of the Ruger SR1911s except for this store. This store got 19 and has been selling them like crazy. As soon as they came in everyone on the waiting list got one and they are down to just a couple left. For the price they are hard to beat.
