Why NBC deserves to be in the toilet. Monkey ad..
Looks like the new kids running that nasty place need some woodshed time.

I'm sure this was a case of unfortunate timing for a pre-scheduled ad placement...But you know if the roles were different and a network like, say, FNC had done the same thing, NBC and its communist affiliates would be milking the outrage for all its worth.

I think that any news organization will jump at the chance to poop on any other news organization, but I agree.
NBC has been airing the stupid ads for their truly awful-looking Animal Hospital show all throughout the Olympics. I agree it was just combination of poor timing and idiots looking for their outrage de jour.

NBC must be a bunch of closet racists and someone left the door cracked open.
I had a guy that watches NBC tell me that NBC ran that ad at that time on purpose.

"Idiots" or detractors. I sense you consider them the same.
Are you intentionally trying to be offensive, or is it just an accident?

I'm not outraged...any time they let the world know who the real racists are...it's a good thing. The outrage part comes when those who should be offended...aren't.

NBC has acted stupidly. They have committed a gaff during the UK Olympics. This is an unforgivable sin.

Perhaps what Walt meant was we should just cut those of the determined left enough slack to just commit about any outrageous act imaginable; without any of us being offended.
I still lay that idiotic behavior at the feet of the new(ish) hatch of operatives. I doubt the older, more responsible, more noble NBC would have never done such a stupid thing.

Wait... what? What's the connection to monkeys and Olympians? Sounds like someone's racist.

I meant those detractors who truly saw intentional racism are "idiots". I did not say this to be offensive but to state a fact: The people that found the ad to be racist are not operating at full mental capacity.

Oh come on, you are obviously claiming a level of intelligence that is higher than that.
Accidental racism, on the part of conservatives has been long used against them. Shouldn't the liberals be willing to suffer the same slings and arrows?
Equating the magnificent performance of our athletes to that of lower primates just after the winning of the gold by one of our own by any organization that could be seen as even slightly conservative would have been descended upon by the libs with a wrath that would be unquenchable.
We are allowed to laugh out loud when lib idiots trip over their own body parts.
Defending them just makes it more funny than it was before.

1) Go back to my above post. You'll see that I used the word "intentional". The airing the ad during a segment that featured a black athlete was dumb because it gave an excuse for idiots to get themselves all worked up.
2) If you recognize it as accidental then how can you use it against NBC, other than to say that it was a careless mistake?
3) I don't get what the conservative/liberal thing has to do with what we're talking about now.

Yes. Equating a black athlete to a monkey would be racist as ****. As in "We now take you to footage of Gabby Whateverhernameis" and then they showed the monkey ad. Or NBC had compared her to a monkey in the commentary. However, that is not what happened. NBC showed a dumb ad for a dumb TV show that they are attempting to tie in to popularity of US gymnastics and the Olympics. They're doing this because sooner than later, the Olympics will end and nobody will have any reason to watch NBC. Seriously, the regular programming sucks.
I'm still not getting you regarding the conservative/liberal thing. I know that MSNBC and Fox are pretty blatantly partisan, but I was under the impression that most other US television news was centrist. Is NBC considered "liberal"? I honestly don't know.

Congratulations to Gabby Douglas for her gold medal.
I don't watch NBC enough to know what the chimpanzee gymnastics is about. This is a mistake on their part. It is funny to see them have to apologize for it. When I read enough of the the story to get what happened, I laughed out loud.

Basically, MSNBC and NBC share corporate identities. There is an interesting bit of crony capitalism taking place between these networks and the Obama administration. NBC/MSNBC has been owned by General Electric, whose president Jeffrey Immelt was named by Obama to be the chair of the United States Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. In 2011, G.E. became a minority shareholder of NBC to Comcast, but still has 49% holdings in the corporation -- so clearly the change of influence by G.E. is only a matter of degree.
As part of Obama's "stimulus" bill, he poured 4.5 billion dollars into the development of the "Smart Grid," much of which went to G.E. -- money that G.E. would have had to spend on its own just to stay competitive with the rest of the industry. Of course, G.E. also stands to make a mint from the subsequent sale of Smart Meters.
By the way -- Jeff Immelt is the dude sitting next to Obama who laughed so uproariously when Obama said that the "shovel-ready jobs weren't so shovel ready."
This is a rather disjointed recounting of the incestuous relationship among G.E./Jeff Immelt, NBC/MSNBC, and Obama. But clearly, it doesn't take much imagination to see that those TV networks have a political alliance with Obama, as well as a vested commercial interest in promoting his policies.

You two are pointing out something immensely important here. The fact that is being completely missed by the real racists, is the mental connection between the little girl gymnast and the monkey IS the racist connection they are attempting to apply to someone else.
The racism belongs to those who make the connection. These people are those who are outraged, because the moral "high ground" is where they want to go, specifically because it isn't where they are.
I hope that little bit of revelation isn't lost in the discussion.

I see that. Bad timing indeed. Even libturds on a massive scale get unlucky from time to time.

Do you think NBC was intentionally using the image of a primate doing gymnastics to claim that the African Americans in the game were somehow different?? Or not?
Both Fox and NBC are partisan, but only one network will get a pass from you for airing that commercial when they aired it.
See the difference yet?
