What Caliber will be Your Next Handgun

For years, I only owned one 9mm, a G19. I never thought of it as an adequate caliber until I saw the recent tests with today's premium ammo. Although I still carry a 357 sig, over the past four months I converted a G23 to a 9mm with an after market slide milled for a Trijicon RMR. Then I bought a G17 to compete in defensive shoot matches and most recently I purchased a Walther PPQ in 9mm.

Since this is a Glock forum, I will not talk too much about the PPQ, but it is a fantasic gun and comes in 9mm and 40 S&W. It feels better in my hand than any other handgun I have used and has the best trigger outside of 1911's. Light take up, crisp 4.5# let off, no overtravel and the shortest reset I have experienced outside a 1911.

Do you have the urge to try a different caliber? What would it be? Have you changed your mind about 9mm?

My next one will probably be a .357sig because I am very impressed with what I see and what I am hearing from with agencies that carry that loading. I carry a .40 G27. I also have a G19 and a G20. I like the G19 a lot, but carry it rarely. With the 9mm you give up some firepower but you gain more control. Some say it's worth it, some say it's not. Depends person to person.

I prefer .45acp, but I own handguns in .22lr, .38spl, 9mm, .40, and .45acp.

Each gun has a role and a reason for the caliber choice. I am not really looking to add another caliber anytime soon.

I'm looking to go the 9mm route, probably the G17.

Currently have a G30 .45 as my carry, and am looking for cheap ammo and maybe get involved in IDPA, GSSF, etc, and I figure why slow myself down while competing.

I have owned a glock in 9mm, .357, .40, 10mm, and .45. Now I am back shooting 9mm. I am shooting more and I save allot shooting just 9mm. Staying on top of my shooting skills helps me more than the power differences between these calibers.

ive been thinking about consolidating calibers down to only 2 in my handguns. Ive got a nice kahr p380 that i love so it would be hard to part with. Ive recently aquired a gen 4 g32 in 357sig and I love it. I feel that it fills a good role for me with HD/trail gun. I rarely carry it because I dont like the bulk. I do like 9mm a lot, and I want to try to keep everything for now in 9mm or 357sig. So next on the list is a g33 or a shield or a kahr pm9, i cant decide.

Either 9 or 40. Trying to figure out if I want to go 23/27 or 19/26 for my carry configuration. Choices choices choices

It's a horse race between 9mm and .357sig.

I'm waiting to see of Smith & Wesson comes out with a Shield in .357sig since they already offer a .40S&W version.

The Caracal C is chambered in .357sig and I'm hopeful we'll start seeing some of these in this country in due time, although that pistol is a bit too large for what I'm looking for.

I think the Shield's success will spawn a number of copycat models and perhaps one or more will be .357sig. I don't have any qualms about 9mm but the more powerful .357sig covers more range and possible situations.

Next one will be a G31 no doubt about it.

I have been kicking around the idea of picking up a smaller framed pistol between the size of my LCP and G33. So I was thinking Kahr CM9 or CM40. If Kahr made a CM or PM 357 the decision would be easy.

Not really a 9mm fan but it would make sense to go with the 9mm because I already load for .380 and .357sig. Have .40 barrels for my Glocks but don't reload .40 yet. Don't know what I'll do. Have been want a 4" or 5.5" Ruger Redhawk .44 also so if I find a good deal on one I may just go with that.

I think I own everything but a 380 & dedicated 38sp. Not a huge fan of either so likely another 45acp, unless I find a minty M686 3", then another 357mag.

For a fun gun, 22LR. For defensive, 9mm. That said, it will likely be a long time before I get another handgun (trying to build an AR next)

I prefer 45acp, i have one, a g36, but i would like another 9mm, i already have two, but would like a full size. 9mm is just cheaper to shoot.

I have 2 .40's and a .38 special.

My off-duty "concealed" will be my next firearm purchase, and I'm going with another .40 so I can share ammo across platforms.

Gee, let's see,

I have 4- .22LR, 3-.380's, a 9mm, a 9mm Makarov, a .38Special, 2-.40cals, a 10mm, 3-.45ACPs, 2- .45 Colts, and a .454 Casull. Plus a .22lR kit and a 9mm barrel for my G23 so I'm not sure what I will buy next.

Either a .22LR target pistol or a 9mm like a CZ strictly for shooting paper.

I reload for all the above except for the 9mmM and .22 of course.

Well, I have many different calibers, but I carry a 45acp 'in town'. Unless I find a mint, or new, 3" 629 in 44mag, another 45acp of some sort would still be my choice.
