Am I the only one...
...who thinks those special edition TALO Wiley Clapp grips are really...really ugly?
"Everything you need and nothing you don't."...well, except for front cocking serrations on a Commander?
AND would it kill Colt to drag a file over those edges? Grabbing a Colt 1911 is like thrusting my hand blindly into my silverware drawer.

Other than the FCS, the goofy grips and the serious need for a dehorn, it seems like a decent package.

I do agree, however, the Devil's claw marks do not bother me much.

It's funny, I don't totally hate FCS on a Government model, but they seem out of place on a commander. The weird thing is that the Wiley Clapp TALO Government model has no FCS. The 3" model has carry cuts, which I think would look better on the Commander.
I guess they need to come out with the deadite TALO edition to really satisfy me.

I think FCS look great on a 5" modern/tactical style 1911. Wilson, Nighthawk, and Les Baer have them as standard equipment on most of their 5" guns (though they can be deleted if desired). If you are going for a more classic look or if your gun is less than 5" then I think they look better without them.

I wish I had the patience to wait for work by one of the top smiths. I end up buying customs that other guys ordered.

I like them on my Dan Wesson PM7-45.
Now here's a nice and clean Commander.

FCS look hideous on Commander sized pistols. At least ugly grips can be easily replaced.
No offense Greg....

OK, that's pretty sweet, but the over all execution of Rogers work is fantastic.

Don't mind the FCS myself, but those grips are indeed awful.

Look at the Talo grips on the CCO, on the Ruger GP100, SW 686. Something is seriously wrong.

Meh.
I already have a real combat commander.
Blues without most of that useless crap.
It does have a bomar rib though, but that was my taste at one time.

I agree. I think no FCS or carry cuts on the Commander model would have looked great. The grips are easily replaced.

Dude, it's a Colt.... generally behind the rest of the market by about 15 years.
Let's not forget the crummy fit on the grip safety and the lack of an extended frame safety (I ride my thumb on it, so I notice that right away). You already mentioned de-horning.
I kinda think this one is a step in the right direction, as I can't remember them ever doing front strap checkering.
Yes, I think the grips are fugly. Modern Colts just aren't my thing...

You're right. The front strap checking is a positive. Also, I like the gold bead front sight.
I wish they would work a little harder on the roll marks, too. My older Colts, like my Woodsman have the roll marks sanded down even with the surface of the slide.
