So I have a friend that despite my perfectly functioning BHP that they are an unreliable gun. Anyone here had an experience with this gun being bad? Figure this might finally put him in his place.

I have never had a jam with either my first Hi Power, which I put the crappiest lead reloads through, or my current one that probably has 2,000 rounds through it since May. I actually like it more than my CZ Shadow.

Both of mine have performed perfectly for many years regardless of what I feed them.

Mine is even chambered in a non standard caliber and it runs fine.

Even the feg clones I have fired seem very reliable.

Fn Hi power 40cal.

I used to shoot and carry Hi Powers quite a bit.

I can't remember ever having a malfunction with one... And I remember malfunctions.

I suggest he read a bit of Mr Camp's Hi Powers and Handguns website. Some of the 1911 forums also have Hi Power subforums.

If this doesn't help, well, ....... In the meantime I just continue shooting mine, and enjoying it....

It is easily one of the most reliable pistols of all time. I mean come on.. Mine has jammed once since 1989 and I think it was my fault. I was firing at pie plate (on the move) and probably limp wristed. Heck, back then I never even cleaned the thing.

I dont think I have ever even heard anyone claim to have a reliability problem with a BHP. I do remember several years ago that a top supressor builder stated that the BHP was the only 9mm that he found reliable (out of the box) enough to work with a supressor mounted.

My Mk 3 has been perfectly reliable with anything...... I have read that some of the older models ( with humped ramps) may struggle with hollow points.....maybe that is what he is referring to.

Mine and a buddy's three have been as reliable as gravity.
For the OP, can you pin your buddy down on what great problem the HP is supposed to have?

I have fired tens of thousands of rounds, from multiple issued Hi Powers with no issues .

Why would you feel the need to "finally put him in his place"?

Does he care, or need, to own a Browning?

Does his opinion, informed or not, really matter to you regarding a firearm you own and use? Really?

I could list any number of folks I've known who carried and used them, or how they were the pistol used by the FBI's HRT in the 80's ... but none of that really matters until any particular example of a pistol has demonstrated itself reliable in the hands of any particular owner/user, while being used with any particular ammunition.

Next thing you know, you'll probably try to convince your friend of the inherent superiority of some brand of motor vehicle over another, or whether his or your girlfriend/wife/SO is "pretty", or some such immaterial point of debate ...
