Had been using my G27 with a 9mm barrel, for IDPA practice, which was not working out so well: it put me in ESP requiring a higher score and I was not hitting COM @ 20 yards with the short sight radius, so I broke down and ordered a G17.
LGS said they could only get gen 3 with NY legal mags last week. No problem - I like the standard grip anyway. My 27 is now set up for .40 as my SD/HD gun and I LOVE the feel of the 17.
On the way home from the LGS last Friday with my new 17, I drove up to the range and did a little break-in with 2 boxes of S&B 124 gr, and another (10 rd) mag of JHPs.
I think I got the kinks worked out of it!
