Walther P22... buy one or pass?
Thinking about a Walther P22 for a 2nd range plinker What do you all think... worth it ot not?

I own a P22 and an M&P22. I would pass on the P22 and get the M&P22.

I own 1 and it functions flawlessly, my wife shoots it all the time and loves it. Winchester M22 ammo goes quick through it.

Do you have a Glock or 1911? If so, go with an Advantage Arms conversion. I have both for both platforms. They are amazing for trigger-time.
If you have neither....STILL pass on the Walther. It is worth $100 Max IMO

Get a Ruger SR22, do some research on youtube, you will see why. I bought one for my wife and I have had a few co-workers buy them 2 at a time.

I've got 2 Glocks. No 1911. Thought about the .22 conversion for one of my Glocks, but haven't seriously considered it yet. Maybe.

Just looked at the Ruger SR22. That may be a definite possibility. What do they cost?

I had one, and it functions well. I never had any issues. They're accurate and fun to shoot. However, I acquired two conversions (one for a Glock 23 and one for a Sig P220) and a Ruger Mark II Target Competition with a Slatside barrel. So I had to get rid of something...it ended up being the P22.

I think after reading the reviews and stuff... I'm going to pass. I just can't get past the zinc alloy (pot metal) slide. I still enjoy the hell out of my S&W 22A-1, though. Keeping it, but still want a smaller auto plinker. SR22 is looking better & better.

It is good for women and kids to shoot at reactive targets (cans, rocks, clay pigeons) and fun to suppress. The sights are terrible and will not produce any decent groups on paper.
If it is for a grownup, I would skip it and buy a M&P22, Browning Buckmark or a .22lr slide for an existing centerfire handgun.

Went ahead and bought the Ruger SR22 yesterday. Must be really popular because I called everywhere in northern middle Tennessee and the only place I found it was at Outpost Armory about 2 hrs drive from where I live. Was worth the trip. Just ordered a cheap laser sight for it off of Sportsmans Guide. Will test her at the range next friday. I'll post a range report then.

Enjoy the heck out of my P22. I understand the later ser #'s are improved. Mine is a 2012. Like it much better than the SIG Mosquito.

I had a chance to shoot an SR22 just this past weekend. After 200 rounds or so, no feed issues that I can recall (with Federal plated), and reasonably accurate for such a tiny plinker.
Having shot similar from SIG and Walther, I would take the Ruger without further consideration- much prefer its barrel over the others.

I don't care for them. Too small (sight radius), light , frail. Wife has one. Doesn't shoot it much. Buy more of a target pistol, you will fall in love with it. Lots of good brands.
I shoot S & W 22S long barrel. Son has Ruger, His wife has Colt. Daughter has Ruger.
If you like small, look at revolvers.

Yep, I've got a good target 22. A S&W 22A-1 with a holographic red dot on it. Love it and have had no problems with it. It's a great target plinker. I really had no reason to get the Ruger SR22 except for the fact that I wanted for another fun little. Looks like a neat little "tactic-cool" gun. Got a cheap laser sight coming soon for it.
