Took my AR-15 shooting Sunday.

Man I'm slacking! Sorry about the late post on this.

Anyways, some of you probably read my thread a few weeks back on me getting the AR-15 put together piece by piece.

Sunday went to an outdoor range (was packed!) and got her sighted in for 25 Yards. Was pretty close to being on. I just had to go 3 clicks up and about 3-4 clicks right. Was shooting XM193 ammunition, and functioned flawlessly. Thanks to all here who gave me advice on this gun.

Oh, and even though this gun is a sweet shooter, I still think I love my 18.5 inch mossberg 500s more .

Nice rifle. Looks a lot like mine. I kind of like that classic, simple look myself.

Is that a SBR or is the flash hider pinned and welded?

Nice lookin' carbine. I've tried pretty much every grip and stock out there and ended up going full circle back to the stock Colt grip and stock.

I have that same upper. I only have a couple hundred rounds through it, but I don't think it has anything to prove.

Nice rifle. Out of curiosity, why did you sight her in for 25 yds?

From what I've been reading, that keeps a 6 inch(ish) group as far as elevation goes for out to 300 yards doing that. It should shoot 1.5 inches high @ 100 yards, then the drop will be compensated for after that. The video BCM sent me with the upper was very informative, and one of the trainers had mannequins with different zeros from 25 yards out to 300 and showing the difference in POA/POI.

I will reach out further to make sure windage is adjusted accordingly though, just to see, since it's easier to find more minute errors out further.

I like 50m/200 yards zero, you're within a couple inches vertically from basically 25-250.

I use a 100 yd zero on my Aimpoints and a 50 yd on my irons.

I've used both quite a bit and with a RDS, it's not much different.

I like the 50 w/ irons because I can see stuff a lot better at 50, it's easier for me to hold under 1 1/2" at 100 and be back to POA at 200(ish).

Holding under at 100 allows me to see the target better and POA at 200 is easier than holding over.
