Am I missing something? Centerfire has 7.62X39 VEPR for $499 and 7.62X54R for $699

These were both $200 higher just a week or two ago. I just recently purchased the converted 7.62X39 for $699 last week and all of a sudden the prices dropped.

I couldn't resist and just ordered the 54R. They have 10 rd mags out now for it and probably 15 rd mags pretty soon if they're not already out. I know they talked about the new versions having the traditional squared AK back end, so maybe they're coming out soon and liquidating the current model. Oh well, enough for me to jump all over it.

I'm guessing the converted ones are getting ready to be imported and they're clearing room for them. Just a guess though...

I heard they are coming out with newer models soon. If that's true... I don't know, but it makes sense. Remember when the Saiga prices dropped before the same thing happened?

Thicker, stiffer RPK style receiver and a thicker barrel. As someone else stated, the rear ends are different than normal AKs, and the sights are different on some models.

I saw the price change as well... I had thought about picking up a x54r 16.5" model for Christmas and then throwing a PSL scope on it, but had talked myself out of it. Now I'm seriously considering it again...

The rumor is that places are clearing out the slant cut receivers because the next shipment of VEPRs is going to have a normal straight cut receiver. Would be cool if it was true.

I think the low cap VEPR mag capacity (non-converted) were not moving, and they are clearing the inventory.

The VEPRs using standard AK mags are the ones to have.
