Showing off my Sig 1911 C3
Just got it today, it's a beauty. The action and trigger feel great and I can't wait to shoot it. Gonna give it a good cleaning. Any advice on breaking her in? I've never had a 1911.
edit: didn't see the picture thread.

thanks for the words...
I will be field stripping and lubing it today. I have the TW25 that came with the gun and some ultimalube II oil that has worked great on my glock. Any suggestions?

There are many good lubricants out there. I use a light film of TW25B on metal/metal bearing surfaces myself such as slide rails and rifle bolts.

Took it to the range yesterday. Had a couple of FTF and major Brass to Face but other than that it was a blast to shoot. The most accurate I have ever been with a handgun

What in the world kind of ammo were you using? My Sig 1911 is one of the most robust ejectors that I own. Even with my mid-range reloads. I like this gun above all my other 1911s. It shoots and it's very accurate.
Then again, you mentioned that it is your first 1911. What you didn't say is how many other semi-autos you have been shooting. It is very possible that your grip is insufficient.
I prefer the Weaver stance and grip (Google for it) - the newer pistoleros prefer the isosceles with thumbs forward, etc.
One thing about gripping a 1911: If you have wood grip panels, you should see sawdust at your feet. Lock up your grip and your wrist. Take the recoil in your elbow.
Your strong hand grips and pushes out against your support hand pulling back and down. One of those isometric muscle deals.
Hickok45 is one of the old time pistoleros. He shoots very well using his form of Weaver/Chapman. Search Google for his stance and grip videos.

I really like the Sig 1911's. I'd lube it up with grease on the rails and locking locking lugs, oil around the barrel and shoot at least 500rds.

My wife sports the same weapon but in all black from the factory. I enjoy shooting it as well so I am sure you will be happy with it.
