Now's the time!

...to pick up used 1911s.

Guns are like the seasons. They come around again and again. I've noticed a ton of 1911s for sale locally, mostly from guys that had 100 year fever. The best deals are on Semi-Custom models. A model retailing at $3500 can be had for a little over 2K if you don't mind buying used.

I noticed this with AK47s and AR15s a few years back. I noticed it with classic revolvers and with Glocks at certain times. The used market is where I got 90% of my guns.

This has lead me to believe that if you buy a custom or a semi-custom, you're doing yourself a favor by holding onto them and that the guns that hold their value best are stock models in great condition with all of the accessories that they came with. I realize that guns shouldn't be thought of as investments, but selling them is definitely a bad one in most cases. The best deals I've gotten are in trades.

Just an observation.

I noticed the same thing. You see quite a few for sale online and in shops.

The same applies to almost anything. Movies, for instance. If you don't care about being the first one to see a movie, you can get it on demand a lot cheaper.
