would a ban actually make us better armed???

dont get me wrong,i dont want to see a ban and i hope it never does come but if a sweeping ban happend i do think the gun culture and industry wouldnt be destroyed and actually would thrive. here is what i could see after the dust clears.

a huge interest in bolt action rifles ..glass and the skills to use them...carbine classes ending but long range classes just as popular

even smaller ccw guns...

big reassurgence of large calibers.

large internal magazines to get around the high cap mag ban.

faster more effecient lever guns....(if i had alot of 223 onhand a marlin lever action chambered for it wouldnt be to wild to imagine...

im just saying..i hope it dont happen, i think it wont happen, but if it does...im still going to buy guns..and instead of rap songs about nines they are going to have to sing about the 454...

so whats your guys thought on this...

can't have 223 style bullets in a tubular magazine, the recoil will set the cartridge in front, flat/round bullet tips only.

Nope, it will never happen for one very big reason.
The anti-gun movement is just that, ANTI-gun.
They may start with your high capacitiy, semiautomatic, military look-like firearms but that is only the beginning.
They do not care if you hunt with a 5-shot 30-30 or not.
Their goal is the complete and total disarmament of a nation.
Most Americans have yet to realize this.

No, You can not. Notice that the Leverevolution ammo you posted has a polymer tip. Also note that these rounds are designed from the ground up to go into a lever action tubular magazine with no ill effects. The .223 is not intended to do such as noted above.

Now back on topic, I tend to agree with the OP on certain points. I would foresee that long guns in bolt, pump, and lever actions would have a resurgence in popularity, however, I feel it would take time and maybe a generation of people to accept the fact that that is all we can have, especially when we, as a gun owning culture, have come to accept AR-15's and the like as the norm foo SD/HD rifles.

The last ban is practically the sole cause of the revolution in Ar-15 debvelopment that happened during it. People went from wanting a copy of what the military uses to deciding if they can't have a copy they want something better.

However, I'd rather have easier access and lower prices on current guns.
