6.8 Ammo question

My money order is on the way to Bison Armory for my 6.8 upper that I kept telling myself I wouldn't get until tax time. Guess I'll put together a lower for it then instead.

My question is what ammo should I pick up for whitetail season? I'm leaning towards the 85gr. I've narrowed it down to the following two:

6.8mm SPC 85gr Nosler ETIP TACTICAL LOAD

http://www.ssarmory.com/6.8_spc_ammo_Nosler_85gr_ETIP_Tactical.aspx

or

6.8 SPC 110gr BARNES TSX

Thanks in advance guys.

This is what I picked up in 6.8, not shot anything with it yet but it shoots well at paper

The SSA you linked is suppose to be good stuff as well.

These guys know their stuff about 6.8 ammo.

I've tried to join the 6.8 forum twice and have been denied both times without a clue to why. May have knowledge but I'm not welcome in the cool kids club it seems.

I bet it is some tech issue. I have the exact same issue with a 1911 forum. Not sure why.

In my 6.8 I have found the 95gr Barnes TTSX and the Nosler 100 grain Accubond to both be great shooting bullets. The 85 grain Barnes did fine as well.

I've shot all the above with SSA factory ammo but I reload those bullets now and mainly shoot the 100 grain Accubonds because I can buy them cheap as factory blemished bullets for about half the retail cost through the Nosler company store.

For just plinking though the Hornady 110 OTM is about as good as it gets.

Federal and Tula are both supposed to release low cost 6.8 loads in Jan of 2013

Just shot my 6.8 for the first time last night and I used Hornady 110g BTHP. Farthest I shot was 50 yards and I had 4 shots that were touching each other after I got it sighted in. No experience with deer yet, but the guy who talked me into the 6.8 for deer swears by them. He has never had a deer go more than 40 yards with most dropping on the spot. Also, I'm shooting a Stag 6.8 upper(16" barrel) with the Stag 3G 5.56 lower.

I used the 115 grain OTM Remington load this year, or well my brother did.

Punched through both shoulders, and the spine of a bull caribou. I really don't think you could ask for more. In the future, I'll be shooting the 110 grain barnes X, but for now, I wouldn't hesitate to use it on anything up to elk or moose so long as I could get within 200 yds.

This thread and that sale were only on my radar because I recently bought 2 lowers, and I plan to build one as a very basic M4 and the other as some kind of longer-range rifle, possibly something I could hunt with (I don't hunt yet though), so I've been wondering about what to get and 6.8 crossed my mind. These will be my first first ARs, by the way.

Vmax is a varmint bullet. You can usually buy Silver State Armory OTM loaded with Sierra's for about $16-17 off their website. Much better bullet.

Federal and Tula both announced they would be producing inexpensive ball ammo for this cartridge in first quarter of 2013.
