Long story, so bare with me. I'm new to Glock, and generally new to sidearms as a whole. Been shooting rifles since I was 5, but sidearms, not so much. When I was deciding what to purchase as my first sidearm, Glock was the first thing that came to mind. Shot the 17, 19, 22, 23 and various other "combat, sidearms. I finally decided on buying a G23, two years ago. I go into my local gun shop, after much research, and decided to drop the money on an EXO G23 gen 3. I ordered it through that gun shop, and in three days I got a call...the EXO package had changed, and all it was now was a special bag and an extra nickel boron slide, no polished barrel, etc. I was a bit disappointed because, obviously, I was expecting a little more for the little extra money I put down. So, I just asked for my money back. When the owner came out, he asked me to look around, and he would sell me any gun he had in his cases for that price. He had a very nice series I kimber compact in his case...that he had forgotten about. I asked him about that, and he reluctantly sold me that for the same price as the glock, albeit, used. I then learned how to shoot on the 1911 platform. Now, two years later, I am FINALLY getting that EXO G23 that has always eluded me. I will be picking it up next week (knock on wood), and I'll finally be part of the fraternity. So, after all that hot air, I would have to say my only soon to be glock, my EXO G23!

My first generation G17. That weapon embodies reliability. It also has the best trigger for a Glock I've ever tried; early NY1 with a light disconnector, giving it a 6 pound pull, crisp release, and ridiculously short reset. Years of loving everything about it except for its excessively smooth grip frame have now been resolved with a grip texturing. It anchors in my hand now without slippage even if my hand is sweating, points like it has eyes, and I shoot it very, very well. I love my other Glocks too - especially my gen 3 19, but my gen 1 17 is my absolute favorite!

I have four Glocks - a customized Glock 17 (Cold Bore Customs), A Glock 19, an un-shot - still in the box Glock 23 (RTF with fish gills), and a Model 37 (home defense). It would be hard to get rid of any of these. Except for the 23, I shoot these pistols regularly and all of them have proven to be accurate and reliable. What would you do?

Definitely Gen 4 G17. For mag capacity and ammo cost. If concealment is part of the requirement then my Gen 3 G26.

My Gen3 G17.
In the United States, suppressors are viewed as sinister and as assassination tools. But in France, for example, suppressors are sold openly in stores without restriction or registration. In fact in France and Switzerland, you can be fined by law enforcement for discharging a firearm without a sound suppressor in certain locations. - Police Magazine August 2008

And the extra Lone Wolf 9mm barrel makes it even better!

I never seem to be able to make up my mind. It seems like every time I get one out that I haven't shot in a while, I think, "Wow, I forgot how much I love this thing." Today though, it's the G27.

My Gen 4 Model 26 ... in fact; I have been shedding Glocks (and other guns) for the last few years and have arrived at the G26 as my only gun after a VERY long journey with lots of doubts about 9mm terminal performance and the accuracy of baby Glocks.

The terminal performance question was answered in the 2001 Marshall and Sarnow book on Stopping Power and the accuracy question was answered by Massad Ayoob in this spring's book from Harris Publishing called The Complete Book of Handguns (?). I am now TOTALLY confident in my choice of handguns and every time I shoot it in IDPA matches or at the range it becomes more and more like a natural extension of both shooting hands (strong and weak). In a high-stress self defense situation, I will not be trying to remember which Glock is in my hand or how it feels to shoot it or recover from recoil on follow-up shots ... which is exactly why I want just ONE gun.

I know it may sound like heresy on this forum to advocate selling Glocks, but my response is that with the extra money I can buy LOTS of my self defense ammo (Federal 9BPLE) and actually shoot it in IDPA competition on a regular basis, thus insuring myself and my loved ones that if the time every arrives when I have to shoot straight and fast for real, our odds of survival have just gone up exponentially.
I am also a huge fan of the 26 and have shedded some and maybe the 36 is next. more ammo, more practice ,one caliber. I think this works with guys who like the 17 and or 19 as well. I wish more people would see how the std grip on the 26 is awesome. pinky under.
