AAC flash hider for 5.56
Any pros or cons with this flash hider? Advantages of the version that you could mount a suppressor on?
Thanks for any comments!

Hides flash but has no comp value. Yes, you can mount a suppressor to it.

No better than a standard A2 at hiding flash, you can mount a Gemtech Halo on a A2, I tried a few different flash hiders, and I ended up going back to the standard A2

Hides flash better than anything else but I can't stand the ringing noise. I use Surefire flash hiders.

For a flash/comp there is the PWS Triad http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/v...?idproduct=251 works very good, I just removed one with 60rds through it for an A2 lmk if your interested I will cut you a deal, its LNIB with all the shims, and no ringing like other pronged flash hiders.

I really like my midwest industries FH. It is superior to the A2 and the yhm in terms of flash suppression. Felt recoil is reduced as well. I use it on my AK too.

Was watching Youtube and heard that ringing noise on a posted video.
In regards to the Surefire & PWS, I am curious about your experiences.
I don't believe a suppressor is in my future purchasing budget but you never know.

They are great flash hiders but they do ring like tuning forks. I replaced all of mine with YHM suppressor mount brakes since I went that direction with my suppressors.

I have a surefire suppressor so I use their mounts on my 5.56 guns. Haven't tried the PWS but it looks like a good design.
The YHM Phantom works well and is cheap.

But, why would you shoot un-suppressed?

My reasoning is why put wear on my can if shooting with friends who don't have suppressors? I have to wear ears anyhow.

Then your problem is solved...you won't hear the ringing with ear muffs on.

I wear electronic earmuffs so I can hear what's going on. The ringing doesn't really bother me but it does some people.

1. Turn off your earmuffs.
2. Only shoot this gun with people you want to annoy.
C'mon man...work with me here...

At a range or class when others are not shooting suppressed and I have to wear ears there is no reason to wear out my expensive suppressor

Still very loud and annoying. Some people are more sensitive to the high pitch than others.

The AAC Blackout flash suppressor still has the "pinging" sound when fired with the suppressor attached. Some members on TOS report that it gets quieter as the "carbon?" builds up after prolonged use. I haven't been able to build it up enough before I switched to the 51T Brake.
It seems to hide the flash well with Federal XM193 from a 16" and 20" barrel. If you are not going to buy a suppressor, as mentioned earlier, the YHM Phantom is a good choice for strictly flash suppression.

After much thought that ringing will probably annoy me even with Peltor Electronic earmuffs on.
I will look into the Surefire & YHM
Thanks everyone for their opinions... .
