Need input concerning swapping out guide rod spring and whatever else to shoot 45 Super in this gun say one box a year. All other shooting would be either normal 45 or +P. I want a small gun to carry into the back country for as much protection against animals as I would get with a 10mm, but I love the look and feel of this gun. Don't bother recommending a magnum wheel gun, I just want a this small packable gun. I might eventually put a slightly longer threaded barrel, and comp on it for possible swap to 460 Rowland shooting. If that is what you were absolutely going to do what directions can you give me?

it seems you already made up your mind, but remember you have an SC frame when choosing calibers, please post pictures when finish.

Yea. I wasn't asking for opinions about the idea, only if others could shed light on any thing that might be done like a stronger guide spring, or ??? I haven't decided to actually do it because of the price of the gun, but I'm trying to search out peoples experience/knowledge. I see a number of others have converted, so to speak, there Glock 21 or XD to shoot 45 Super and I'm thinking that even an aluminum frame is as strong as a plastic gun. I guess people don't want to give directions per se'. Perhaps I should ask what might be done to add to the lifespan of a gun shooting 45 Super?
