It was freezing this morning here. We had to break out the blankets and heaters and huddle up so we didn't freeze to death. It got down to 30 degrees. That's too cold for me.

It's been down in the 20s the last few nights here.

Well, I got turned down for the ATF position; apparently, they're only hiring from within.

And somehow my debit card is being used at Walmart in Orlando while I'm in Kentucky. Funny how that happens.

Long sleeves? I'm wearing a medium jacket in the morning but after a few hours just wearing regular uniform. At least it warms up quickly here during the daytime.

Sorry to hear both of those developments bud! Got turned down by the Feds myself last year. Looking back, I'm glad I did as I'm very happy with my current situation in life. The good Lord will get ya where you need to be my friend!

Now for the debit card... Those bastards should be shot! Had that happen to me not too long ago.

Yeah, they had actually somehow made a physical copy of it, and used it inside a physical Walmart store (not online or anything like that) according to my bank. My card is shut off with a new one en route; I can't dispute the charges until they actually hit (showing as "pending" right now), and a police report was filed with Metro. I'm hoping that they not only catch the bastard(s) that did this, but the bastards resist and get a healthy dose of hickory shampoo for their trouble.

Sitting here drinking a Yuengling Black & Tan and watching a rerun of Southland. Seeing Cooper's 3rd Gen S&W sure makes me miss my old 4566!

You know, until the M&P, I never really was a fan of S&W autos. Revolvers, yes, but not really the autos. Just never cared for any of them I tried.

Jealous! I can't find it here, nor my second favorite beer, Old Speckled Hen.

I really should be sleeping, but as per usual when I'm on any shift other than afternoons, my sleep schedule is all effed up. Sigh...

Long day... ready to call it and move on somewhere else. Tired of being beat up everyday from within.

You're right... I was wearing a tighter than usual shirt yesterday.

Honestly, I never was either, but after toting one around as a duty pistol with my last gig they grew in me. My 4566 always reminded me a lot of a 1911 with slim grips on it. I love to find one of their 4513's (think sub-compact 1911 sized .45) for off duty.

I do and I don't... in a way, their work is nowhere as satisfying, at least to me, as local policing on patrol where you are helping people on a more everyday basis... but yeah, it could be very exciting to do some of the things they do, but relatively, the local pay and benefits here is way better than federal pay and benefits.

You're probably right. I worked with a girl years ago that went to the DEA. She spent the next five years parked in a car from noon to the wee hours of the morning watching houses. Doesn't sound all that nifty.

My buddy did the same thing. Went to DEA and would call me all the time. He says he spends about 20 days straight sitting in his office playing solitaire, and then goes out 1 day to do a raid or a buy or whatever, and then sits around again until the next one. He says it's terrible.

I'm sure he's working cases but I get what he's saying... tons of desk time and not a lot of field time doing exciting stuff.

Then again, it's the same way on patrol, except we sit around in a car driving around looking at stuff.

Yeah exactly. My friend Tracy worked a rural area outside of San Diego. So they just watched people. An informant would cough up a name and then they'd watch the guy until he did or didn't do something stupid.

At least in a patrol car you can create work for yourself if that's what suits you.
