I ordered a new front sight from Dan Wesson to replace the standard black sight. There is a small pin with the new sight. Is there any trick or special tool required to remove the pin in the factory sight? Also what is the best way to trim the FO to length? Do I need some type of adhesive to keep the insert in place. I'm no gunsmith but I feel like this isn't that hard of a job.

blindman, just use a 1/16" drift to drive the front sight pin straight downward through the slide.

I just cut the fiber optic slightly longer than the sight. NO adhesive needed. Just insert the fiber optic in the sight and heat the ends with a lighter, match or other heat source. I use a BIC butane SureStart, as you'd use to light a barbecue grill, etc. Just heat the fiber optic, don't touch the flame to it and catch it on fire. The end will rivet over and the sight will be retained, and look just like factory if this is done right...
