Finally took a sip of the H&Kool-Aid...
I don't see what the big deal is, seems like I overpaid for another plastic gun.
As you can see, my 34 was a bit jealous.
I guess it's not an apples-to-apples comparison since I've never owned any Glocks in .45, only the 19, 26, and now the 34. The USP shot great and performed flawlessly, but so did my Glocks.

Yeah... I had more Glocks than anything else so I decided to drop $900 on an HK P2000. Rock solid reliable, almost boring. I have the same thought.. I just paid a lot more for just another polymer pistol. Its nice, don't get me wrong, but my Glock does evey bit as well, at a lot less cost. Just my opinion. :o

I wish I had tickets this year. I think we have a good chance to make it 3 in a row over them. Back on topic I just picked up a excellent used condition HK USPc 40 for $417.00 today. Haven't been this lucky in a while.

Think the $900 is a waste?
It will show in the long run. The HK will keep running long after the Glock breaks.
They both do the same thing but the HK will do it longer.
HK's are money well spent!

That's awesome, you lucky dog. Go 'Noles!
Thanks for all the input, guys. I guess only time will tell because its definitely a keeper and I can't wait to see it performs after thousands of rounds.

If you plan on leaving mags loaded, replace the factory mag springs with Wolff springs. Mine went bad after about six months and my friend's after a year (both are .45 full-size USPs with 10 rd mags). Haven't had any trouble since replacing them.
Both guns were purchased shortly after H&K introduced the .45 USP, so they may have fixed this problem. Maybe someone on this board can answer this???
Hope this helps...

Congratulations on the new HK
I have a Glock and four HKs.
They are all great guns.
I'm amazed at folks complaining about the price of a good gun?
They should last you a lifetime.
And I spend many times the cost of a gun on ammo shooting her.
At any rate, enjoy your new weapon!

Mine has a build date of 2004 and it came with the 12-rd mags. I keep them loaded with 11 rds but I will have to do some more research on the magazine spring issue, thank you.
Thanks Barth, I guess I have to keep shooting it to fully appreciate it's value.

Perhaps "waste" is a little strong. I basically have unlimited funds for purchasing firearms... maybe I should have said my $900 could've been spent better.

There are guns that cost a lot less than Glocks do that run just fine. Does that make Glocks overpriced?

From personal experience, EVERY gun I've owned that cost under $400 has given me issues;
1) Taurus M605, cylinder locked up during a range session and had to be sent in for repairs.
2) Kel-Tec Sub2000, trigger guard broke off and had to be sent in.
3) Walther P22, crack in slide.
I've owned 3 Glocks that have never had any issues, maybe I should get a gen4?

Maybe sell it and buy a Glock 21? There isn't any reason to keep something you don't like.
HK's aren't cheap but the extra cost is attributed to the quality standard they are held to. It's kind of like buying a Colt over say brand X.
You may pay a little more for the Colt but you can take it out of the box and be sure that the level of quality up to par and built with components that you can be sure about.
All I can say is HK's aren't for everybody especially if cost is a issue. HK's are for the discerning shooter that demands the highest quality polymer pistol on the market or for the person that can only own one handgun and demands a polymer pistol.
There will always be other polymer pistols but none of them can currently top HK's quality and durability.
I'll gladly spend the $900+ for a HK over a Glock. That's not to say I don't like Glocks or other polymer guns.
I just prefer the HK's. Why? After reading this it should be obvious!
In the end, it's your money and if your not happy with it, sell it and buy something that's more to your liking.

The reason you don't see what the big deal is....is because there isn't.
I've shot my share of HK's.... (Admittedly friends).... Major yawn fest.

Lol. This was just my initial impression.
As others said, this gun should stand the testament of time, but only time will tell.

Nothing's for everybody.
I got my first HK for the same price as a new Glock. Liked it right off the bat. Didn't take long until I unloaded most of my Glocks (except the 10mm's and longslides.).
