Forend / handguard wobble on 6920?
Hey guys, I just picked up a colt 6920. I noticed some left / right movement in the handguard, how common is this typically? It annoys me since my other ARs dont do this. Any remedy?

Pretty normal for plastic handguards to have some play between them and the upper. If it annoys you, you can always try swapping pairs around with your other ARs and see if your different sets of handguards match up well with different rifles.

Normal, and most standard plastic handguards move slightly.

My Colt's handguards are wobbly, and the upper/lower fit wobbles...still shoots fine though.

Normal. If you want to get rid of wobble, get a Magpul MOE hand guard or better yet a Troy drop in quad rail(has zero wobble).

Good to know, thanks guys. I shot 100 rds thru her today and she did fine. Given the cost of the 6920 I was expecting less wobble and receiver play than my other "low-end" M4 home-build, but that one also has an aluminum quad rail handguard compared to the plastic on the Colt.
Here she is, Colt on top.

All handguards will wobble with enough use. Receiver play between the upper and lower doesn't affect anything and most guns will loosen up over time.

I had some handguard wobble, so I put a tiny dab of JB Weld inside of the handguard retainer (like a toothpick sized dab or two in there) and it is nice and tight now.

Fit and finish things like handguard and receiver play aren't the point with a Colt, especially since they don't really affect anything. You payed for consistency and reliability, don't sweat it

If you think that they wobble now, wait till you take them off and put them back on for cleaning purposes.

I have two Colts 20" & 16" (handguard movement on both) and 4 other AR-15's (no handguard movement). Your gun is fine and it's a Colt.

I've had two stock handguards and one MOE on two different uppers. All have some movement. Doesn't bother me now.

I promise...they all will wobble over time with enough use.
As a Jr. Lieutenant I was the Physical Security officer and Small Arms Maintenance Officer for hundreds and hundreds of 1911s, M9s, and M16A2s (Mostly all Colt BTW). The handguards and upper/lower fit all get loose over time. A new set of handguards will generally tighten things back up to a degree. But they all get loose. Doesn't hurt a thing.

If you want to keep the plastic, go with a Magpul MOE. Tight enough for some accessories and feels better.
