45 to 45 Super???
I was watching a YouTube about changing the return spring and firing pin spring on a G21 to convert it to use with 45 Super. Why would they change the firing pin spring? I guess they made it stiffer, but not sure? I'm asking because I'm in the process of converting my Gen 4 21 to use 45 Super. I will only be doing this for camping purposes, so 99% of my use will be with standard loads or +P occasionally.
Thanks...

All I use is a stiffer recoil spring and a better supported barrel. Mine happens to have a comp on the end, but it runs and packs a punch. My G21 is a Gen4 and I use a Glockworx Gen4 reducing ring to let me use my Gen3 22lb captured RSA, but the stock RSA will work too I'm sure, it seems pretty stout.
No need to change firing pin spring, that seems more like a 1911 issue.

I have a reducing ring on order with a 22lb spring and ss rod, although I don't understand the captured or non-captured stuff, and have no idea which i'm getting from them. The YouTube I saw was a Glock conversion. I also have a LW 5.2" threaded barrel coming and expect to buy a comp although i hope to make it work without the extended comp on it. I have been looking at the return Sprinco Recoil Management System to be able to dismiss using the comp.

Will the KKM barrel with their comp work with the stock recoil spring set up in the Gen 4 21? That would be very cool if all I had to do is drop in this barrel with comp to shoot the Super. The recuction in recoil should be around 40%.

 Whoa, back it up!
There is a close working interdependency among the: recoil, trigger, and striker springs in a Glock. If the striker spring is too light in relationship to either the recoil or the trigger spring, (or both) then a Glock pistol might accidentially discharge.
In a Glock pistol the springs perform a, sort of, balancing act. Throw that balance off; and you've got a problem! Anytime you increase the recoil spring weight you should also, at least, increase the striker spring weight, too.
There are performance parameters within which these springs have to function together. When you work on Glocks you have to know how far you can go with changing the various spring weights. Suggest you use the search function, here, to research 45 Super conversions. What you're doing can be dangerous.
YouTube gunsmithing? You've got to be kidding me!
Here's my own 45 Super conversion -
(It can really, 'shake the dust out of the rafters'!)

You'll notice the question regarding the You Tube was intended to find someone in the know to clarify the issue. This is how those things are brought to understanding!

What grip sleeve is that Arc?
Edit: looks like a Pachmayr tactical grip glove.
Does the finger groove cutouts reduce the size
of the grooves. The top one is right in the middle
of my finger.

I think that the replacement trigger spring is out of concern that the gun may double fire or triple fire.

Thanks...
I wonder what spring rate I might use to attempt to prevent that?

Come to think of it, Glock has already eliminated the double fire possibility by the use of a disconnector. The trigger must be pulled for every shot.

It seems if that were not the case you could drop the pistol and it might go off but that is what all the safety features claim won't happen?

PM sent.
(1911 pattern pistols use, 'disconnectors'. Glocks and Glock designs use, 'connectors'.)

Sorry, I have the habit of jumping out of threads, somewhat, early. (Fewer arguments that way!) Anyway, I just found your reply and will answer.
It is. I've since replaced it with a Hogue, 'Handall' which I like better. (I've got fairly large hands as well as a little arthritis in my fingers. Large pistol frames and large grips work better for me.)
Yes, the cutouts do reduce the size of the finger grooves; but they, also, compress like soft carpeting under your feet; and, in my experience, cause a Glock's frame to feel much better in your hand. (Where I really need the hard frame stippling is under my thumb!)

Thanks, I have the handall now and it makes
the "speed bumps" feel bigger.
