Have a 23, should I get a 26 or 27?

I've got a gen 4 23 that I love, and has had no issues at all. I want to try the smaller frame. I have it in my mind that I want to have a 9mm, but can't decide. I can't decide if it makes sense to have all in the same caliber so I can just stock up on one kind of ammo, or if the diversity would be good. I've got the 23, and then 2 38 revolvers as far as pistols. The 26 would mean needing to stock up on new ammo.

What do most of you do? It seems like a lot of people stuck with one. .... And then there's the whole BTF issue that makes me consider the 27 a little more

I like the G26 better and have said before I believe it is about Glock's best. However the G27 has the advantage of using a conversion barrel to switch it to 9mm.

I have 26 and 27 both gen4s and love them both. I am using my GSSF coupon to buy a 23 gen4 this weekend. I like my .40s but the 9s are great too. Having said that I would go with the 27. You can use your 23 mags in the 27 as well. Both are good choices and are great shooters.

My thoughts also. Especially if you have other 9mm pistols.

You meant .40 right?

Definitely keeping the 23. I'm just looking for a second glock. My GSSF coupon just got here and my LGS has both in stock

I Don't have a 9, but the the compatability is definitely a thought

I have a gen 3 G27 with a Storm Lake 40-9mm barrel and G26 mags.
No BTF, FTF, FTE with over 2000 9mm rounds and about 1/2 of those HPs.

Plus with X-grips she runs G23/G19 and G22/G17 mags.
Actually have 357 Sig barrels and mags too.

You can do anything you want.
Really can't lose.

Ops, I almost forgot to tell you a single G23 40-9mm conversion barrel
will work in both the G23 and G27 guns.

If money is a issue then stick to your current caliber.

With the G27 you always have to future option to buy a conversion barrel and a couple 9mm mags. Thats what I did with my G23.

I like the flexibility to use 40 or 9mm with one gun.

I concur with what has already been posted. Go with the G27 and get a 9mm conversion barrel. You cannot get a G26 and convert it to .40. That door only swings in one direction.

Good luck.

I have a G19. I thought about getting a G26, which would be easier to conceal, but marginally. I decided not to get a G26 (It'd be for pocket carry, actually) when a friend needed to sell his KelTec P3AT.

On different calibers, it kind of sucks stockpiling different calibers. I have/had .22LR, .380ACP, .38Spc, 9mm, .45GAP, and .45ACP. That's just my pistol...

If you'd like a sub-compact, but don't want another caliber, get the G27. If your proficient with the G23, and it suits your needs, just shoot it more and more and become an expert with it.

I recently picked up a G27 to back-up my duty G22. Sticking with one caliber for serious-use guns makes sense, as SD/Duty ammo isn't cheap.
That said, 9mm is pretty prolific and everyone should have at least one for range/IDPA/zombies/etc. A gen 2 G17(among others) does that particular duty in my collection.

sloot,

Get a 40 to 9mm conversion barrel for your Gen4 G23 first, that way you’ll be able to see for yourself which you prefer.

AND

If you get the Gen4 G27, you should be able to shoot 9mm in it with the barrel you got for your Gen4 G23.

Agreed. I like a similar manual of arms. 31/32/33 is my current poison.

well....against the majority I went with the gen 4 26. I think it came down to really just wanting to have a 9mm in my arsenal to play around with. Hope I like it. I love the .40 round and my gen 4 23, so hopefully I like this one as well. At $425, if I hate it I can always trade out of it. Really looking forward to shooting it and expecting to like it though

Nice purchase. I have the Gen4 23 and 26 combo and couldn't be happier especially when I can't find .40 cal ammo. The 26 gave me more options, as far as ammo availability and cost. Plus the extra one or two rounds may save life if I'm ever caught in a jam.

Good choice and congrats!

I have the G23 / 27 combo and I'm really pleased!

picked up the 9mm conversion barrel along with the .357 barrel.

Makes heading out the door for TEoTWAWKI much easier, and opens the options regarding "battle field pickups' for ammo!

My wife refuses to let me have my G26 back, or it would be sold by now...

Congrats on your new pistol!
