Iron sights/target

100 yards, POI was center of target. Installed a new, thinner front sight, allowing me to see more of the target.

Yes, I was shooting over a bag.

Looks fine.........
Keep in mind a 1/16" error in sight alignment will net a 3.5-4"
Error at the target. Contrary to what most people believe, an
AR15 is a 3-4" MOA weapon with iron sights, ammo & average shooter.
Match grade ammunition, a magnified optic & experienced shooter
will cut that in half, or more.

You should have use the bottom of the bullseye as your POI. Your shot pattern is taller than it is wide and that reflects inconsistent aiming point. Next time use the bottom of the bullseye and REALLY focus on the front sight relative to the bottom of the target--but only focus on the front sight.

You can easily shrink that group with some work.

Thanks!
Colt 6920, ammo was some Federal 5.56, 55gr. Next time I'll lollipop it! Some say POA/POI and others say lollipop it. The new front sight won't allow for 1/4 clicks, it's 1/2 clicks (180 deg), so I guess this will be a lollipop sight picture, which would make it shoot to center.

I like to lollipop the target - real useful when you use irons at 200 plus you lolipop the head on a man target to get body hits with a 100 yard zero. If your using the 8/3 zero you still lolipop with head hold.

If you are shooting ball ammo, try M855 - I have found the 62 grain bullet a little more accurate with a 1x7 twist than the 55 grain bullets.
