Gen 4 G19 arrived!!!

The Gen 4 G19 I got with my pistol certificate from Marietta arrived at my local gun shop yesterday. That was pretty fast!!! I'm thinking of doing a UL build with it (I know, big surprise right?), something that leans more towards tactical shooting as opposed to a typical racegun. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else had ordered one. They must have just finished a run. I couldn't wait for the Gen 4 26, so I just bought it at my job, using my hefty employee discount of course.

Here we go again, Mike's UL Glock #16. I suggest you shoot it stock for a while. You may just learn to like it.

I guess if Mike bought a Derringer, he'd try to make a UL gun out of it.

Mike,

What you are hearing here is Random win Jealousy

Carry on with the project until you get the G26 unlimited.

Mike, at my AR class yesterday, the Air Force guy that was teaching the class had a G19 that had an RMR milled into the slide. He let everyone shoot it and it was awesome. Are you still thinking about doing something like that?

Yep. That's the plan. That's what I'm thinking right now anyway. I figured a slide milled for a Trijicon RMR along with suppressor sights would be a good step one. Then I was thinking about having Bobby do some "Mitchell" cuts with inlay along the slide to increase cycle rate and add some cerakote refinishing to add my own personal touch to it.. Later on I will add a threaded KKM barrel and a Gen 4 Carver magwell.

Haters are gonna hate I guess LOL Truthfully and as you ALL well know I just enjoy shooting dot guns, and since that's what I shoot the most in competition and its what I train with the most why shouldn't I use something similar for home defense? Not carry mind you, got a G26 for that, just for home defense and the occasional UL div. at a GSSF match. Wouldn't be competing with it much, I'm sure it wouldn't even compare to the G17 NOVA racer Bobby built me. But I think it will be a cool gun to shoot none the less.

Can Bobby do the milling and mounting for the RMR or will you be sending it somewhere else? I know One Source Tactical and Bowie Tactical do this kind of work.

Mike if you are thinking about using it in a GSSF match better check the rules. I don't have them handy right now but they use to state that "No sights could be milled into the slide in any category", don't know if it still says that or not.

The milling is the part I'm not sure about right now. Not sure that the suppressor sights are gonna give me any advantage and the dot in the dovetail would allow me to go back to stock later should I chose to do so. You never know, I might just throw a set of night sights on it and call it a day.
I think a 17 may be a better candidate for this type of project anyway. And since I plan on getting a Gen 4 for GSSF I could use my Gen 3 RTF2 for "tinkering" with the RMR.

Don
Nearly anything goes in UNL Don, except those noted below. I have a Doctor sight milled into my slide. I've seen many at GSSF so hope we all haven't been guilty of any transgressions.

45.0 Illegal parts in the “Unlimited” Division:
• “Carbine Conversion” units (no shoulder stocks)
• Aftermarket metallic replacement frames.
• Any conversion kit that does not fire a round for
which GLOCK manufactures a firearm (see section
50.)

UNLIMITED
170.130
This division is open to all competitors; both Master
and Amateur, who use a GLOCK firearm that
has aftermarket components or modifications that
are not allowed in the “stock” divisions (see section
40.00). Competitors may also use the same
stock GLOCK firearm they used in firing the Civilian,
Guardian, Subcompact, Competition, Heavy Metal,
or Master-Stock divisions. The only stock GLOCK
model excluded from this division is the G36 (due
to its relatively limited magazine capacity). Shoulder-
stock devices and similar “Carbine Conversion
Units” may not be used. All competitors compete
equally and there are no special category awards.

I plan on doing the same with my g21 when it comes. Not for competition, but for a nightstand /hd gun.

I think the red dot for defense is starting to catch on more. Seems everyone is using a reflex sight on one gun or another nowadays. The G21 should be pretty cool. I chose the G19 so I could carry it AIWB if I ever decided to do so. I'll most likely stick to my G26 for EDC though.

I think the 19 will be awesome in that roll, and will also make a nice Carry gun.

For anyone who hasn't seen the concept , here is what it is :

Keep us posted on it.
