Do I "Need" An Octagon Frontier?
As I have noted in other threads, I am really, really enjoying my Henry H001. It's the standard lever action 22 with the round barrel.
I likely would have bought the octagon barrel model, but I could not find one at the time. I'm wondering, is there enough difference between the two models to warrant adding the Octagon barrel model?

A bit longer barrel, a bit heavier, and a bit more money.
I like the looks of the Frontier, but I doubt there is much practical difference in terms of performance.

Need has nothing to do with it. You want it. You know you do. Get it!

Sigh... I probably will end up doing just that.

They shoot the same. The ockty is more front heavy (imagine that). I know this, cause I got both....

I gave my son an H001 last Christmas (he loves it.) I now want a Frontier model-- I want the extra weight and length. It's just that it's gonna be a while before another firearm is in the budget. Sigh.

As a 22 fan, it is a wise purchase to get as many 22LR rifles that you can afford. Then, buy 22LR ammo whenever you see it on sale. Having several 22 rifles lets me set them up for a particular bullet style and weight. I then do not have to adjust the rifle for each weight difference.

I was going to pick up the Frontier but when I saw the price difference I bumped up to the Golden Boy. Brought is home this past Saturday. Hopefully I will be able to put some rounds through it later today.

Oops. I was at the LGS today and it turns out I "needed" another 10/22 more than an octagon barrel Henry. They did have one though, and it sure was a beaut. One of these days ...

Not positive but think the front sight is thinner with a bead on the octagon. I love mine. I also added the bigger lever, which is nicer to shoot while wearing gloves.

Yup, it's a lot like the front sight on a 10/22.
