LGS Guy Says 10mm Punishing Recoil
I went to lunch with a buddy today and we stopped at our LGS on the way back. He is getting ready to purchase his first serious handgun and wanted to look at a few Glocks while I got a few reloading supplies. As I walked over to the counter where the Glocks were I overheard the conversation my friend was having with the employee. My friend asked if they had a G29SF in stock and if he could handle it. I was dumbfounded when the employee told him, " no we don't have a G29 in stock, and you don't want that anyway cause the 10mm recoil is punishing."
I manged to keep my mouth shut and we walked out of there. I told my buddy he can shoot my G29SF next week and that the sales guy didn't know what he was talking about. Obviously the guy must have never shot a 10mm or he is really, really recoil sensitive.

I agree with all of the above statements. I tolerate the guys at the LGS here because they are real close and have a decently stocked store, but if I had a dime for every dumb statement I've heard from them I could have my own ammo manufacturing plant.

Last month that same Gun Store employee used to say "Do you want fries with that"?
I would have said something (nicely of course)

I wanted to tell him that I shot 150 rnds of 180gr. XTP's over 9.2gr of LS yesterday at the range and didn't break my wrist. Somehow I don't think he would have understood.

You must be crazy for wanting a G29.
People already think I must be the son of Chuck Norris when I tell them I carry a G27. .40 is SO snappy.

My G29 is stout, but not punishing. Punishing would hurt. The G29 does not hurt!

I love the 10 and have yet to find a hot load that feels at all punishing......strike that, my ears even with protection know I am playing with a large and in charge caliber, so do others near me. Just not my hands, wrist, etc....

10mm has recoil? I think I got a defective G20 then because mine doesn't seem to have much.

Probably from the same crop of folks that think the .45 has a lot of recoil. I never shot a 10mm that had punishing recoil.

If it means anything, my XDm .40 lasted about a week after I shot my G29. The G29 was easier to shoot so there was no reason to keep the XDm.

Honestly, my 14 year old daughter shoots my G27 all within the center two rings at 25 feet. Yes it bends her wrist a lot, but she never complains.
I just sold that G27 to my dad to bump up to buy the G29. Deep woods carry.
