Put it on manual focus once in a while and shoot a well lit white wall out of focus. The spots will surprise you. The Canon 5D (what I shoot for digital) series are especially bad. The chip develops a nasty static charge. total dust magnet.

Unfortunately, it doesn't take much for them to get dirty. If you have a repuable camera store in your area you can take it in for a sensor cleaning. Otherwise unless its getting really bad just keep shooting. Your sensor is always a little dirty, as Bates said the sensors are dust magnets. If I'm not mistaken though your 7D should have sensor cleaning. Its not the greatest for cleaning but sometimes it will knock the dust off.

While I was at it, I also ordered a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM for a portrait lens. After rewards and promotion I paid $314 for it!

I would take it to a shop to have it Cleaned. i am to afraid of damage to clean it my self. I have a 5D mkII. The auto sensor clean seems to work pretty well for me.

Just a tip. When changing, try and keep the body pointing downward and make your lens changes quick and fluid.
