.22 LR Can't find any.

I can understand 9mm, 40, 223, 5.56, but .22 why?

Think about all of the AR (including SIG 522 & 15/22), AKM, MP-5 clones that use .22 LR

Then the mountains of 10/22s & other .22 LR rifles/carbines..... Mk I, II & III & other .22 LR pistols.

Small Game hunters.....pumps, bolt actions & even single shots.

Now combine the above with the thought of their beloved pastime being illegally & unconstitutionally ended by the Usurper & the behind the scenes double dealing by the Usurper's minions.

The firing ranges I have been to recently have changed radically since the Newtown incident..

..not more empty..

..but more jam packed!

Witnessed lots of ammo going down range..

...lots of men, women & children doing some serious training!

It was explained to me that many fear an ammo tax. If 22lr is taxed per round, that is a huge price jump. Also the fact that rimfires are non reloadable. Plus, it's still relatively cheap if you like to go plinking and want to save your centerfire ammo for shtf or just for hunting purposes. That's what's driving the 22lr to be wiped out.

It is one of the most brilliant plots to stimulate the economy that the Obama admin has ever devised. You guys just don't get it...

Brass and SUlphur mines are working round the clock, trains and trucks are moving the raw materials
Mag factories are hiring for 24/7 operations
Barbeque and beer joints near ranges are seating at capacity
No one is worried about the fiscal cliff and the market is up

BRILLIANT I say!!!!!!!. Stop hating.

Thanks guys for your explanations. I should have read some of the other posts, which explains a lot, but I didn't. It all makes since now. I did find 10 (100 shell) boxes of Win HP at 8 bucks ea.. That will work till all this nonsense is over. Again, thanks for the info.

Yup, all these people throwing down $1K-2K+ for rifles when they are having difficulty keeping their homes. What better way to get people spending then create panic.

my local wally world can't keep anything in stock including 22lr's. i always walk by the ammo when i'm in the store for what ever.

the other day they had just put up 2,000 rds of 1,250fps cci's. i got 500 on the way in and 30min. later on the way out there only 300rds left and the next day they were out again like everything else...

I was in there the night before and of course, the shelves looked like old mother Hubbard's cupboard. The clerk said the truck that just arrived had ammo on it and they would re-stock the shelves overnight. By the time I got there around noon, it was mostly gone.

Dumb luck for me.

I bought a finicky .22 semi pistol last year (Austrian Sporting Arms M22). I bought and tried every type of .22 I could to find what worked in it. Sometimes I'd find one that worked well enough so I'd go back and buy as much as they had. Then, not satisfied with the pistols performance I'd start the process all over again.

I ended up with thousands of rounds of .22 all work great in my other .22 guns. And a crap load that make that picky semi-auto work well too.

.22lr is probably the single most popular cartridge in the country. Virtually everybody that has any firearms has at least one chambered for .22lr.

With centerfire ammo getting hard to find, and people worried about being able to get what they can before it is banned/restricted/taxed/tracked, the next choice is .22lr. And you can get a LOT more of it per $.

I thought I had a good amount of .22lr. That was when the shelves were always stocked with it. I now think otherwise, especially since so much of what I have is cheap 550 round bulk packs, which are okay but not great.

I'm not desperate for anything but when things have settled down a little, I'm hoping by summer/fall, my number one priority will be to get thousands of rounds of CCI Mini Mags and CCI Standard Velocity

I have an AA .22lr conversion kit for my Glock 26, a Ruger 10/22, and soon (shipping from Buds as we speak) a S&W M&P 15-22.

With ammo prices and availability going the way they are getting inexpensive trigger time with firearms that strongly resemble your primary/go-to choices is critical.

I ordered 5000 rounds of CCI SV the other day. $279 from SGammo.

Any .22 is hard to find around these parts too.

Snagged a Federal "bucket o' bullets" (.22) at the Rod & Gun Club. Glad I checked today.
