Wondering where the NRA has been

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...-for-a-flight/

Looks like they are getting ready. Some real idiots in the comment area but it is CNN.

Since the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, last month, the organization has added 100,000 new members, bringing its total membership to 4.2 million, NRA officials told CNN. Because of the increased attention on the issue, the officials think they will soon hit 5 million.
- Sounds good to me!

They could probably double or quadruple their membership if they offered a real email-only membership setup. Their overuse of snail mail fundraising drives is notorious.

I knew a lady in Charlotte that handled printing jobs for the NRA mailings. She was waaaaaaaaaay overpaid.

I'd have been a constant member for the last 30 years were it not for the constant pestering. I'd also try to get relatives and friends to join if I knew they wouldn't be pestered.

I did rejoin in spite of this.

You can opt out of the mailings

"We"cannot blame the NRA for the current situation.

The public outcry over the recent mass (and firemen) shootings and it doesn't help that "we" re-elected the most anti-constitutional President in history!

Do, don't worry about what the NRA is going to do.
A better question is what are "we" going to do and ore we going to remember HOW to vote in 2014?

I was at a big box sporting goods store today and there was a NRA recruiter out front signing folks up. I stopped by and spoke with the gentlemen . I asked him how many had he signed up ? He said about 45 in 4 hrs .. which I though was fairly good . I told him to add one more and signed my wife up . I told him to keep up the good work.

Welcome aboard!
I'd suggest a Life Membership a.s.a.p (especially at the $300 rate).
As has already been said, if the constant fund raising letters are a problem you can have them stopped, but hey, it keeps people working, and it must be making money for them or they would have stopped mailing them years ago!

I've been a member since 96, but due to the current regime I felt it prudent to get her a membership .. Heck, I would love to do the life membership but until I get our Med bills paid , we'll have to do the yrly .. :(

Just re-upped too. Been an on and off member for 20 years or so. I would like to do a $300 life member too! Couldn't afford $1000 at once when I was younger and now I'm too old to make the quarterly payments! Might kick the bucket before it's paid for!

Sure I can. Look at how a lot of A and B NRA rated politicians have voted over the years and compare those ratings to the GOA ones. The NRA has been far more concerned with keeping the membership dues high than actually defending our rights. Support for Harry Reid in 2010 was the last straw for me after years of membership in both I told the NRA where to go and gave the money they used to get to the GOA.

Only one pro-gun group has met with Biden's task force and only one could get that meeting.
