Hello all. I've bought my first gun, a Glock 22 (and will be picking it up in around 10 days). It will be for home defense. My wife likes the idea of having a gun for this purpose but she truly hates and is afraid of guns in general. She's never fired one and says she never will. We also have a 10-year-old daughter.

I need a handgun safe we can keep under the bed to keep the Glock away from my wife (who doesn't even want to know the combo) and my daughter. So basically, it's all me.

My question is what is the best kind of handgun safe to get? We're in California and I understand safes here have to comply with state regulations. Obviously I'm looking for something that's Calif-compliant and secure but that can be opened fast in an emergency. Knowing what I know about technology, I would never be comfortable with one of the biometric safes.

Any ideas?

Welcome to Glock Talk. I've personally had good luck with the Gun Vault product. Won't hurt to keep a spare key on a chain around your neck in case batteries die.
