Any opinions on the 22/45 Lite. I handled one a few weeks back and have been thinking about picking one up.

i also handeled one a few weeks ago with a browning buckmark. bought the buckmark. both are nice guns. browning had a better trigger but cost more.

I've handled and shot a buddy's lite. I didn't really care enough about it to get one. It seemed to be too light and sighting at anything, it didn't have the weight to hold well on target...if that makes any sense. I have a Mark 3 22/45 and a Mark 2 slab side pistol. The heavier KMK 678GC is an overall better gun...more accurate and better handling

I have a 22/45 Lite.
Very light. Combine this with the red dot site,a and it is great for fast target acquisition. It is quite accurate also. I have gotten 1 inch groups at 25.

I have a 22/45 Lite set up for Steel (SC and NSSF Rimfire Challenge) and I also have a 22/45. In either case, putting in a bushing and getting rid of the LCI improve function and reliability. With the bushing, the mags pop right out and the mag safety goes bye-bye.

The Lite is a little twitchy and unless you are a decent shooter, will probably hinder your accuracy, but it is great for the speed games. Mine now has a full VQ trigger in it and I feel like I am cheating with it.

I actually have both, and for a skilled shooter playing the speed games, the Lite is faster. My wife and kids prefer the steel version, as do I, when just casual shooting.

I have a couple of each the 22/45 lites and several 22/45s with TacSol uppers. The Lites are the fastest for speed steel after a little getting used to. I shoot mine several times a month. The steel versions are nice, but the Lites get my vote for speed shooting.

I bought one for my wifes steel gun and added a CMore and comp. She likes the light weight other wise I'd of got the standard MkIII so we could use same mags and everything else inchange.

Just got in December so not used it yet other than sighting in and her shooting for practice. Zero problems and she likes it. I added Volquerson (sic?) internals to mine and a BAM bushing, so naturally she wants me to to work on her's now.

couple of weeks ago was looking at ruger lite & browing buckmark. bought the browing, but kept thinking about the ruger. thursday i went & bought the ruger 22\45 lite also. i have the new model that just came out thats all black. i think they stopped making the gold ones. paid $400, theres a guy on armslist thats trying to sell his new black model for $625 saying they are very hard to find. i would post pictures but i'm not very computer savy.

OK I'll chime in,

Bought the 22/45 thinking id use it as a trainer gun for 5+1 drills that could double as a hunting pistol (squirrel, rabbit, ect). After handling it the gun seemed fine and l thought it would be fair for the subject. After one trip to the range and not getting better then 1.5 moa at 9 yards, had 6-7 failure to feeds, and a ton of ftf's. I took it home swapped out the safety and the chamber indicator got to the range and still had the accuracy issues and a ton more ftf's. Sold it and bought the mkiii hunter. Best choice I have ever made.

If you ask me the LITE is just too light. It feels nearly unnatural. I mean I have heard of barrel wander but that thing was something else. I have heard one call it a "twitchy" gun and that is the perfect comment.

I bought a mkiii hunter and have kept it nearly stock except a trigger job and a doctor red dot. Will out right put 1 hole groups on a slow fire at 25 yards easy. Heavier is not always worse. Still...no gun matches a browning shake apart Buckmark. Sure you have to keep the bolts tightened...but with my 7.25 barrel it is a true 75 yard handgun. Really fast handling and does everything any. 22 pistol out there.

jtp, your .22 cents is good advice for the majority of shooters. I have only been able to seen flat or some improvement in the speed games with the Lite in the hands of top tier shooters. (like sub 2.5 seconds per stage on SC)

Having MkIIIs from the Lite, the 22/45 up to the 6" heavy barrel, weight is beneficial for group size and pretty much anything that does not require target splits under 1/2 second or so.

If I did not shoot speed steel, I would have gotten rid of the Lite too.

I have a 22/45 set up for steel shoots. I have been considering a TAC sol upper for it. What length barrel are you using for steel? If you have a compensator does it help much? My 22/45 is a VQ inners with a Cmore. I think it is a 4" barrel.

I use a 4" and I tried comps...no difference to me.
