Hey all. Phases here. Those of you involved in the Android scene may know me from androidforums.com - I'm the Community Manager / Administrator there. Well, several places but that's by far our more successful venture.
Living in Tennessee with my wife and kids.. Teen moved in (finally!) a couple years ago and we have a toddler. Decided I wanted a handgun (again) for home defense. Took a little convincing, but I slammed my foot to the ground and by golly, she knew where her place was.
.. I'm just playing :P
But it did take a little convincing. I know for many, her included, when you have kids in the house is when you keep guns out. For me, though, when you have kids in the house is when you need to pick one up. Hard to explain that to those who feel the opposite - it's a hot topic.
Lot of scary things out there, I'd like to be prepared if something decided to come our way. A few months ago a guy in our neighborhood went and killed all three people next door to him, a 14 year old my kid went to school with, his mom that a friend of mine had known, and his grandmother, the manager of the apartments we lived in before we bought this house. Stabbed them all to death.
Shocking to say the least.
I've owned a couple before, a Walther P99 that I loved and Taurus P911 that I hated. Took a couple safety courses, shot a decent bit I guess. I was in the Army at that time, deployed a couple times - Iraq and Afganistan - and it was way too hard on the wife. I hated day to day life in the military anyway, just wasn't for me (deployments not so bad), so I got out. I was using a Colt M203 btw.
Ended up losing time/interest/money (or something) to shoot and sold them. Wish I hadn't sold them, at least not the Walther.
That was ten years ago. As far as I'm concerned I may as well not have had or used anything, I can't even remember yesterday. Though, I will say field stripping the Glock I just got and looking at the cleaning pieces that came with it brought some memories back.
Way way more backdrop than you probably need. Here's where we are now.
So a couple days ago I went to our local gun shop and they are WIPED OUT. I mean.. they were probably at a third stock. And they can't hardly order much. Our local Fox station was in there doing a report on recent gun sales, too.
So anyway he had just a few things in, and of what he had, all I wanted to look at really were the Glocks. Most everything else were just.. I dunno, just didn't have any interest.
He had a G20, G30, and G27. All I wanted was something for the house so I wasn't trying to be picky. Well, you know me. Ok you don't, but if you did.. heh. Naturally I did what I do best and gravitated toward the baddest mofo available. Should see what happens when I go to buy or build a computer. Oh, just a couple more bucks I could get this. Couple more, this. I'll go on and get all this stuff I'll never need.
So. I am now a super proud (or am I? See my next thread...) owner of a G20! It sits in a new safe in the closet.
Edit: Nevermind, New owner of a 30 and 27!
I haven't fired it, won't until my class in 3 weeks - Taking another refresher course, then going to get my permit. Will be my first time getting a permit. My problem/questions/concernes? Well.....
[and just deleted some stuff, will post in a support forum and out of intro section. See my next thread if you'd like to read on.

.....Anyway, been lurking, read a LOT of good stuff here over the past few days, so finally thought I'd join. Regardless of what happens with my indecisiveness after possibly jumping the gun (ha), I'll still be a Glock owner so, Cheers!
