Long slides popularity

Are they that unpopular? Or is it because this forum is so hard to find? I thought this forum would have more traffic than it does.

This subforum has never been that popular.... and its almost self-fulfilling... lots of people know about it but, due to the low traffic here, nobody posts anything here! Its a vicious circle.

The G34/G35 guns are fairly popular for use in IDPA and other competitions, and due to this popularity, it's relatively easy to find holsters and accessories for them.

The longest longslides (G17L and G24/G24C) are either not allowed in certain competitions, or are limited to the highest classes, making them less popular with match shooters. Because of this, it can be more difficult to find holsters and accessories for them, which makes them (you guessed it), less popular (even with non-competitive shooters). It's another vicious circle...

I was looking to buy a G 34 but due to the availability of 40 SW ammo, I bought a G 35 instead. I really like the ease of reach in the new mag release and the extended slide release.

I am looking for some range gear as I do not have time to compete and will probably never carry this as a CCS. Any suggestions? My initial thought is comp-tac?

Do you guys reload for these? I also bought a new Lee pro 1000 for 40 S&W

Many Glocker carry their guns for self defense.

The longslides have the best balance of all of the Glocks.

Their loss!

Love mine too, although they're not factory! G31 was my first longslide build, followed by a G21 and G20.

As the owner of a custom G20/21L since 2004, I can say that the thousands of rounds of both calibers I've shot through mine have convinced me that it's truly a great combination. The 10mm absolutely loves the longer length barrel when shooting the full power loads as does the 45acp+p. In addition, when I assembled my custom G24 a few years later, I found that my full power 40s&w loads also worked very well in it. The longer sight radius, the better balance, and the reduced muzzle rise when shooting full power make the combination ideal.

I do too. I like the older style, like the standard belt holster. I do NOT like the international holster, or any holster or body that is made in that fashion. I had one, and thankfully they took it back because I hated it. Did I mention I hated it??

My impression is that there are few long slide Glocks in circulation as compared to millions of the more 'popular' models, so the threads/posts about them are very slim. Until recently, I wasn't aware that the G34 even exists.

I'm seriously looking for a G34, and others would be too if we talked more about long slide models here at GT. I handled a G34 at the NRA expo last Friday, and it is a sweet feeling/looking pistol. I even like the appearance of the slide cutout.

By the way, a Glock rep at the NRA convention told me they are taking dealer orders now for a production run of G17L models this summer. I suppose they'll be Gen 4, but I didn't confirm that.

Amazes me every day I see one of the custom G20L builds .... WHY oh WHY doesn't Glock make a 10mm longslide from the factory?? LOL... its the caliber that benefits most from the extra length. Not only that but they THEMSELVES market the 10mm as a hunting caliber / pistol.

Hey, since you mentioned having thought of buying the G34, you might think about eventually buying a 9mm conversion barrel for your G35. My 3rd Gen 35 does really well as a 9mm.

And it is going with me (as a 40S&W) to a 3 day class this week. Great pistols.

Love my gen 4 34. Nice balance, little extra velocity, slide release works well also. Wife wants one for a bedside rig. Russ

Since I got my G34-4 my other Glock don't get shot that much anymore. It's such a pleasure to shoot it gets a couple of hundred rounds through it every range trip. Without a doubt, it would be the last Glock to go.

I really dig the longslide models. I have a Gen4 35 that shoots very well and I have a KKM 6" G24 barrel for it, now I just wish Glock would release the Gen4 24!

Love my 17L. When I raise it in either hand, the front dot is centered right in the rear sight. It has a slightly different balance that, with the longer sight radius, makes it feel like a six-barreled revolver, without the total weight.
