I picked up a laminated stock 77/.17 a couple weeks ago in preparation for an upcoming varmint hunt next month. I topped it with a Leupold 6.5x20-40 that I haven't been using. Today was sight in day & I noticed a couple of things about the rifle; the bolt operation was stiff and the factory trigger is gawd awful. It'll be replaced with a Rifle Basix, but that'll have to wait 'til after the trip. I had waffled between the CZ and Ruger for a while and eventually just got the Ruger. Accuracy was not quite as good as I expected so I'd like some opinions and input from others that have or have shot the 77/.17. Shooting was done off a bag at 100 yds using Remington .17gr fodder. Temp was right around 50 degrees & wind was variable at about 2mph. Target is a 3" shoot-n-c and this was the best five shot group I could turn in.

3" and? That makes your best group a shade over 1".
I'd try some of the other brands of ammo, even if they all are made by CCI.
My savage 93r17 shoots 3/4" groups consistently at 100 yards off the bench.

Yep, a tad over an inch.... I was hoping for more. I think I'll try the different ammo first, trigger second & heaven forbid it's me. I've shot tighter groups with different rifles so I'm not quite ready to admit 'shooter error' yet. I imagine .17s are kinda like .22s in that some are more accurate when a specific round is used. I'm searching for one this weekend & will post pics if I turn in better groups.
