+1. I love HK. I have a USP .45 but that was before the Hk45 came out. You could also look at the FN FNP45.

1911.1911.1911.1911...
Seriously though, if you haven't shot a 1911, give it a go before you decide against it. Nothing shoots like a 1911.

Do yourself a favor. If you go polymer, buy the best.
Go HK or go home.
If a all metal gun is more to your liking, go with a Sig or a high end 1911.
Save all the toy guns on the market for the kiddies that like to play and pretend.

The MP has an odd feeling trigger. It does fit my hand pretty nice. However just ten rounds. The xd 45 fits my hand about as well and holds 3 more rounds. The usp did not fit my hands well, but it was awesomely accurate. Only "failure" i had was 1 failure to go into battery and I just slapped it in and it went bang. If I had the money I would get a usp 45. Right now I am looking to put an xd 45 tactical on layaway if it is still at the store when I get paid later this week.

Try a Glock 38. Shoots great. Plus 45 GAP is one of the few ammos still on the shelf.

Is this first hand and anecdotal?
I would like a gen 4 21 myself...

I have an SAR - K2. It's 14+1 and it's not much bigger than a full size Cz75.

My BIL came over one day with his brand new Sig 1911. He was all exited about it. He put one magazine through it. It jammed once and made a decent group. I gave him my HK USP, he shot a group half the size of his 1911 and (DUH!) it did not jam!
I did not hear one squeal out of him about how superior 1911s are ever since.

My M&P that I carry daily as my duty gun has not ever malfunctioned or needed parts. If you want to upgrade the trigger Apex makes several upgrade kits.

A Ruger P90 or P97 would be a good choice. It would be hard to find one NIB but a good used one will last forever. My P97 is the best shooting gun I have.

Hard to beat a G21. For price, mag cap and accuracy! M&P are nice but figure another $100 for apex trigger parts, and that it still wont get you a Glock trigger reset.
The G30 is just an awesome handgun for size and accuracy price.
HKs are sweet but high cost factor.
Sig P220 is a sweet shooter, very accurate but high cost again and DA/SA configuration!

I saw a thread on the XDs. I know it smaller. What about that one? It seems nice in the thread.

You have my total admiration. The HK45 or HK45c is the pistol to own in this caliber. Bill

My favorite full frame .45 is an FNX .45 Tactical. It is pricey but awesome. 15+1 capacity is nice too. The gun is light and not over sized even with its mag capacity. It is a fantastic fighting gun... and it looks cool as hell.

Send him over to my place to try one of our Kimbers or the Springfield Trophy Match, well get him back on the right 1911 path.
