If it was a Glock model, produced in 2009 it would be a Gen 3,although late 09 some very few Gen 4's may have been available.
Serial number prefix will tell the tale. SJ 40

Gen 2 models ceased production around ten years earlier. If it was a new pistol, it was not a Gen 2. It may have been an RTF 2 gen 3 , but not a gen 2. If it has finger grooves on the front strap of the frame, it's not a gen 2.

Does it have a light rail? If so then it is at least a 3rd gen.

Purchased in 2009 does not necessarily mean it was made in 2009.

As said by others, get us the serial number prefix (the letters) or a picture, and we'll be better able to tell ya!
