WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Why didn't they light his ass up like the Fourth of July?!?!?!
You threaten someone with a gun with a TASER?!?!?!??!
I'm sitting here speechless. What is policing coming to?
God help us all.

I'm glad the cops survived this encounter. But by bringing a Taser to a gun fight, and prevailing, I'm afraid they reinforced a bad tactical practice.

We seem to be hiring officers incapable/unwilling to use deadly force.
Bad tactics are reinforced by "success".

I wonder if, based on the article, the officers were already wrestling him, maybe already on the ground, before the gun became evident.

Kind of like on the internet forums - People continually flip someone off who they know is obligated to not break the rules in response. Yeah, usually that type of stupidity eventually yields the rewards that are earned.
And then there are those trying so hard to be offended that they're imagining things that haven't even been said in a thread.

What if you and another officer were both tangled up on the ground with the subject?

Been there many a time I'm smart enough to know where my weapon is it and where my rounds are going to go .
I review all our department taser deployments and I can tell you there's an over dependence on it it is not a lethal weapon and people are using it at the wrong times. You cannot judge it to be the correct choice just because it's a success. There are already documented cases where people use Tasers on Armed individuals and ended up getting shot.
